Poor Cyborg definitely suffered from the Worf Effect for a long time there. (Seriously? Slapped around with his own freaking arms? Geez, Geoff.)
I wonder if they bothered to bring him back for New 52. On the other hand, given what they've done to a lot of characters in New 52, I kind of hope they didn't.

They did bring him back, he's been recast as a founding member of the Justice League. The reboot has been kinder to him than most.

That's pleasant. I was worried they stuck him in the Outlaws or something, or made him an unlikeable jerk like they did Captain Marvel. Oh, sorry. "Shazam." Can't call him Captain Marvel anymore.

What the hell happened to Cyborg?

At that time, Geoff Johns happened to him. For his run on Teen Titans, it was often the case that a new villain's badassery was directly proportional to the severity of the dismembering he gave to Cyborg, usually without provocation.

I can understand why it happens to him, not many other Titans can be blown apart and recover from it so 'easily'. But I do agree that it's overdone.
Great pic.

Have you ever seen Star Trek The Next Generation? Anytime the writers wanted to establish someone as a serious badass, they had them throw Worf around. I only mention it because that's what they use Cyborg for, only instead of just throwing him, they like to blow him up.

Only Star Trek I watched was Voyager. I'm just tired of them doing that to Vic. He never died but he's been brain dead and in a coma plus blown apart multiple times. It's ridiculous.

Hear hear! Cyborg's too freaking cool to keep getting his ass kicked. He should be the one doing the ass-kicking. ^_^

Has this seriously been happening to him the past year or so? I remember when Risk tore his arms off and beat him with them but this?

Yeah, when Trigon attacked Titans East, they all got mangled, and Cyborg has spent the first few issues of the new Titans comic in a floating wheelchair, not fighting at all.

Isn't the metal that his limbs are made out of supposed to be nearly unbreakable? Like Deathstroke's scale armor.

See, here's the thing. It's not so much that the hits roll off his back as they blow off his limbs. We wanna see Cyborg doing what he does best. Beating up bad guys without going to pieces ^_^

He got beaten up with his own arms. Twice. And his metal body is suposed to be near indestructable, yet he gets hurt more than Robin lately.
