So furious at the sight of failure
His brain spasms
Delirious

A novel rejected

Previous to his mischievous ways
He was a calm man
A hard workingman
An American man
Fighting for his dream and no one else's

But now he's a poor man
A homeless man
Assumed to be dangerous
Deranged and far from hilarious
His thoughts crazy
His eyes twitch
Insane

The problem with the streets
After a while it consumes you
The issue his future
Lost in the struggle

He's become a landmark
A statistic
A broken down former linguistic

And he begs for your money
He prays for your prayers
And speaks to no one, but himself

You give him your change
But not a second thought, glance, or stair

So he stays on the streets
Smelling of leftovers
Lost hope
And broken dreams

Will you pray for this man?
Dear God will you save this man?

A pen and some paper
It's all he craves
But he needs so much more

Give this man a smile
Give this man a chance
A second glance
Don't let assumptions merely ride on circumstance

Some day
You could be this man
