I think they are better than the Archie Comics, they got bad after the Penders lawsuit.

Both Morains are great, but i also like the Nobius one too. The Asian outfit would fit Morain considering her sword looks like a katana imo.

They needed to do more with Morain in the official comic. In fact the entire nameless zone backstory needed expanding really

Well it's been a while since I thought about it all, and I never wrote it down, but I'll try!

Basically (and I'll try and keep it brief, I promise) the 3 oldest species on Mobius were:

Cats - all about Magic, trusted with the most sacred objects on Mobius, icluding the Sol Emeralds
Echidnas - Obsessed with War and defence, highly interested in the ancient technology Mobius seems to be made up of
Foxes - A mix between the two above; highly skilled in magic and learning, but practical warriors not afraid to use technology

Each species had a prophecy of a Doomsday Event:
- the Echidnas had a vision of a technological menage that would cripple their defences by stealing the Master Emerald of Angel Island and taking over the world (as shown in the Mural in the background of the Hidden Palace Zone). They sought to mobilise their defences, and started to man the battle moons and prep floating continents ready for war.
- Similarly, the Foxes also foresaw an Invasion, although this time from Outer Space (the Draken possibly) - also like the Echidna's they prophesied that a Hedgehog (a newer, developing species) would be their saviour, and evacuated most of the Hedgehog species on to a Battle Moon 'graciously lent' to them by the Echidnas  - the Miracle Planet (this is why at the moment there are only a few Hedgehog's on Mobius - the rest are trapped in an inaccessible time-loop). Once completed, to protect the wealth of knowledge and history they had gathered, they used their magic to teleport their Temple and the entire Zone it inhabited to another dimension simply known as the Nameless Zone. You can find where the Fox Temple Zone used to be somewhere on the Hill Top Zone, where there are two Starposts next to each other, indicating reality has been 'pinched together' in that area to conceal the Temple.
- The Cats prophecy seemed to reveal a huge Energy Demon powerful enough to wipe out all life on Mobius (Chaos) - believing themselves to be the only ones capable to summoning/creating such a creature, they removed themselves from the entire dimension, and took the Sol Emeralds with them. I call their pocket dimension the Heavens Above Cat Kingdom (or H.A.C.K) because that's where Honey the Cat comes from (see what I did there?)  - they have had Guardians of the Sol Emeralds for centuries, of which Blaze is the latest, and a sacred order of Black Cats to protect the 'official' entranceway to the dimension in the Special Zone (of which Ebony is the only remaining member)

oh wow that's a complex piece but it does make sense - I tried to work in the splitting of the six chaos emeralds into twelve to explain it myself (whoops spoilers for my own comic)

You've just made a new fan right here. I LOVE STC. It IS my childhood. So seeing these redesigns makes me so happy. One question. What is Nobius? I want to know so much more about that please sir.

If you've been scrolling through my work you might have seen some dark, twisted versions of Sonic, Knuckles, Amy and Tails I've drawn - this is from a story I had in my head where Sonic get's trapped in an alternative version of Mobius named Nightmare Mobius (or Nobius). In this version of Mobius Professor Kintobor completed the R.O.C.C machine without incident, but with so much negative chaos energy stored inside it became unstable and Kintobor tried to beam the energy into space - something went wrong and the chaos energy flooded the planet instead, mutating all the creatures on the surface into horrible, nightmare versions of themselves. The only ones who escaped the effects were those not currently on the surface/in that dimension at the time, including Kintobor, Shadow, Morain and Blaze amongst others - Now Sonic must team up with this random assortment of characters to try and undo some of the damage, and return to his own world

That does sound pretty damn awesome. May I have a read of that story, sounds like a blast. I really loved the redesigns. They looked fresh and awesome and yet the same still.

I know exactly how that is, being a writer myself. I wish I could download it all directly from my brain, god that would be awesome and computer breaking lol.
Well I'd still love to chat and swap ideas with you on a messenger, facebook or skype. Could be a laugh.

I also wanted to ask may I use some of your character redesigns for my own STC mirrow world.

Hi sorry, wow it's been 4 months! I'm so hopeless with deviantART these days! Sure you can feature some of my designs (if you still want to do that), just be sure to link people back to my originals - and I've had some people mess me about with this sort of thing before, so please understand that if I'm unhappy with how my designs are being used, I will ask for them to be taken down

Grimer In reply to WhereIDrawTheLine [2015-10-29 10:41:42 +0000 UTC]

Sorry to hear people have messed you around. People are ass holes. Lol. I will let you see the comics, or read them, so you can decide if their portraits meet their designs in your eyes.

How did u loose four months before responding looool

Excellent inking work here. Love the contrast in movement between the two characters, with Morian looking fierce and brutal in the Mobius world, and then looking honourable and tame in the Nobius world. These are quite the nice illustrations. Great work here.

Thank you, nice to try something different And don't mistake cool and calculating for 'tame' - she may look in control, but the Nobian Morain is far more vicious than the regular version... dangerously so - Vengeance is a bitch, or rather, a Vixen

WhereIDrawTheLine In reply to JXW [2011-06-12 08:43:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I'm having it so that all characters that were on Mobius at the time of the 'Chaos Wave' were altered by it, and any characters from other dimensions/space/time who weren't, joined the party later (and by party, I of course mean a vicious struggle to survive against horribly mutated creatures...)

Morain from the Nobian reality was trained by the top Enchanter King on my page of Enchanter Kings (giving her that more disciplined 'eastern look'), as opposed to largely neglected by the bottom one on the page in the Mobian reality, creating the feral Morain we're all familiar with - I'll go into more detail on the description at some point.

Thanks for the comments! x
