Description Okay, so I'm using theFelineCanine's contest to practice and experiment. Here is her character, Tigai, lounging among the autumn leaves.

Tigai belongs to her...don't take him, or she'll bite you.

Image was done using the panther model in Poser, background courtesy Digital Rex probably from Bryce (Thankee dear!), and then fiddled and waggled till I had something that I was happy with in Photoshop. It's a real Frankenstein of a piece, but I'm happy with it, and I'm getting better at postwork in Photoshop, I think.

=] It was fun!

Wow! This is so awesome, Tigai looks amazing, you got all of his markings just right, and I like how he looks, surreal looking, really nice. The background is so pretty, goes well with Tigai's pose and expression, ^^

Best of luck in the contest!

Can I ask where you got this model for poser? I've been looking ofr a big cat model, but I have n't found any that look that great. Thanks!

That one came with the safari bundle from daz3d, but daz just came out with the millenium big cat model, which is fair and has a LOT more textures with it. But there's also another one that's looks excellent but I can't afford (I don't have the mil big cat model either.)

The other site is here [link] I've been drooling over those cats and wolf packages for ages now. =]

I was looking at that one, but it didn't look that great to me. The textures were okay, I didnt care for the leopard or jaguar ones. Yours looked alot better proportionately.... did you do alot to it in Photoshop?

The model is almost completely unchanged from Poser -- I added the tail and the mane (unfortunately I don't have a really reliable way to do hair yet in photoshop *grimaces*). I also added all of the markings in photohop.

And I agree, I've been vaguely unhappy with both the wolf and big cat models for poser. All of them seem rather flat and plasticky, especially when you compare them to the Victoria models, the Millenium horse, and even the MIllenium cat.

When I saw the example render they had for Mil Big Cat I was terribly excited, but there's something about the shape of the face that's just...wrong about it.

The model I used came as part of the safari animals bundle -- a mat extension I bought came with a black and silver pair of textures, but there weren't any solid patterns, so I just tinted it green and went from there. Made the fur look a bit like it's made of rubber, but ah, well.

Also, it may be the pose I have him in. I've noticed that all of the models look a little better with their mouths open...seems to hide whatever it is that's wrong with the faces.

If you find something you really like, let me know. I'm also looking for a better werewolf model...the srixus model is a bit beefy and has a nasty fur pattern...not so good for the lanky types that I like to draw.

Thanks!

Yeah! Thier muzzle is too long. It might be suitable for a tiger maybe, since theirs are naturally longer, but for a lion or leopard it just looks weird. I also didn't like thier paws much, they looked way too fake. I'll have to compare those and the safari bundle ones again, and see which I really prefer. Thanks for your help! ^__^
