Yes, Rome is really similar to his father Ancient Rome, and people keep mistaking the present Rome for his father xD
It's a headcanon of mine,since normally people comes here in Rome only to see monuments of the ancient era xP

oh, well, they are pretty different ^^
to tell it very basically:
the Roman Empire was the ancient one, and fell around the 4th century (western), while the eastern fell at the end of the Middle Ages more or less
the Holy Roman Empire was created in the Middle Ages, but it was not so "Roman" anymore, the only called it like that because they wanted to be "hiers" of the true Roman Empire; then it was "Holy" as the Emperor was crowned by the Pope
