Malka's pride in the Grasslands wasn't as massive like the one Simba grew up in. But the lions were strong and cubs were abundant.

One of the elders was Joe. No one knew exactly where Joe came from because he'd always change his story. One time he'd say he was an exiled king from another pride, another time he'd say he was a fierce fighter. It got to a point where Malka's father wrote him off as a the pride's pathological liar. A fool, but a harmless fool. That didn't stop Mzaha to give him the benefit of the doubt and became his mate. She wasn't a very smart lioness, one time she swore she found a talking tree on a hunt but it turned out to be a hyena hiding inside the tree who tricked her into giving up her food. The pair were made for each other. It wasn't long before they had their daughter, Ambar. This lioness had a temper to make the king's blush. She was cunning but usually had a temper that could cloud her judgment. So much so she got outwitted by meerkats on a hunt. Still she felt she had to put in the work her parents were too dumb to do. She caught the attention of Tanglemane the rogue who liked her temper at first.... but then it was too much for him to handle. The pair had four cubs, but they ranged from being brats to idiots. The only one he seemed to like was his daughter Sabini. She was quiet and gentle and by far the less stressful cub had had. This naturally made her siblings Embe, Nanasi, and Limau insanely jealous. Limau acted like the boss if the trio while the others followed blindly, all being his yes man on topics seldom speaking for themselves. They all bullied Simba when he brought up the prospect about finding a fallen star. They all laughed and mocked him despite him being prince of Pride Rock. Sabini had no part in it and kept to herself. She missed her father ever since he left the pride and wondered if he'd ever come back.

But troubles for the Grassland Pride were just beginning. Not long after Scar took over Pride Rock he gave an order to the hyenas to cut down the numbers of the neighboring prides. He couldn't risk another male taking him out. Deep in the night he sent them out to attack. It quickly became a bloodbath. There was no warning. One by one the pride was being devoured. Sabini was forced to run. Her brothers and sister were torn limb from limb. Just when she thought she was cornered, Tanglemane came and saved her from the hyenas. But the Grassland pride was lost. Tanglemane had no choice by to flee with his last cub.

Tanglemane had been returning to his old roots as a rouge male. It was brutal being alone but he liked it. Still, now with Scar weeding out the prides other rogues began massing together for protection against the horde. Soon Tanglemane was teaming up with Ni, Leo, and Leo's his son Mega. Ni told of the conflict happening at Pride Rock and heard of the new law to exile all the males that were not Scar's cubs. Tanglemane felt they were none of their business, food was growing scarce as it was they didn't need some snot-nosed brats with no hunting experience causing them problems. That was until Tanglemane also located his former leader's son Malka. Tanglemane was left with no choice he had to protect his daughter and Malka and joined the operation.

Leo was a gentle soul, he and his son Mega had been pridless for years since his mate died. It didn't bother them so much though due to the up tick in hyenas things were becoming less peaceful to wander around. Still despite the host of traumatized cubs who lost their home and family Leo tried to cheer them up with jokes-- in particularly dad jokes which would embarrass Mega. Mega acted as a scout, hiding in tight places to keep a look out for hyenas or other lions who could pose a threat. He took a liking to Sabini rather quickly. He seldom saw lone lionesses this far out and he felt he had to protect her. Sabini became smitten with him too, Malka was great and all but he seemed to talk about other cubs she didn't know about like Nala or Tama. Suddenly she didn't feel judged or second best and they became close friends and later mates, with two cubs Babu and Boga when the conflict in the Pridelands died down. Tanglemane wasn't so sure about the union and was naturally protective of his little girl, but he relaxed when he found none of the other cubs seemed to be worthy. When Scar was overthrown, Sabini, Mega, and Leo joined Chumvi and Kula into returning to the Pridelands. Tanglemane joined Ni and carried on wandering the lands feeling their roles as protectors were done here. Malka joined Tama in rekindling the Grassland Pride while Tojo started his own with a batch of white lionesses, using his birds as sentries for hunts. Life was slowly turning around again for all.
