Athurane Dragon

Athurane dragons are one of the most hostile species alive, and coupled with practically being living generators, they're rarely approached by other dragons and never by humans. Although it's common for electricity-oriented dragons to produce their own power, an Athurane can produce charge at an alarming rate. This coupled with their mastery of the element makes them a force to be reckoned with, and they sit comfortably at the top of the food chain and are generally avoided at all costs.
It is possible and fairly common for Athurane to live their entire lives without once touching ground; they can use their electricity to make existing thunderclouds dense enough to hold their weight for a period of time. Young of this species who haven't yet mastered this skill often ride on the backs of their parents, clinging with the aid of controlled static. Athurane prey on nearly everything that flies, including other dragons granted they're small enough. They will not attack one of their own, though they may squabble.
If enraged, a colony can gather thunderclouds over an area and cause lightning bolts to rain down, often causing fires and devastating the area. This is extremely rare though, and has only happened once thus far. The aftermath had lasting results; creating a large chasm perpetually charged with electricity.
