Description This is acrylic on board 16x11. Actually it's charcoal on paper cut out and glued on board and layered with more cut out paper people, painted with acrylic. This was a really really dumb idea. Not the painting process... No, the part where I took my wives gryphon sketch and thought it would be tons of fun to do a collaboration with her. However, I did all this without including her. So I took her sketch that she had all these plans for, cut it up, and painted over it and totally destroyed it. I'm a super considerate guy aren't I? As sad as she was to see what I did, she still had the grace to help me with some problems I had with it at the very end. So learn from my mistakes and don't try this at your home. You can still see her original sketch in the scraps section of her gallery. I hope this all makes someone out there smile... cause I'm sure not happy with it. Thanks for looking.

By the looks of this, it doesn't look like it's going to be a fancy ride.

It'd be nice to include a link to your wife's gallery so that we can see her work as well-- I'm very curious! You're both obviously very talented, this is beautiful (despite the heartache!).

dude, you don't fuck with other people's art!
but i do like the end result very much! i'm curious if the sketch was just of the gryphon, or if any of the figures were included?
also that ride looks terribly unsafe.

Thanks. I do to. That's the part my wife sketched out. I envy her abilities.

I think it's entertaining, if I was around in a place and time where they let me ride a gryphon's tail I'd do it!
I hope you don't feel bad about it for too long, I know your wife still loves you anyway! Although, yes, I agree there could have been smarter ways to go about doing it, but that's part of life.

This reminds me of the very odd people who set up picnics on the hills above Civil War battles to watch the "fun". Perhaps not the best judgement.

As for using your wife's sketch in a collaboration without her. Ouch. I feel your pain. (And hers!) But, she sounds like a very nice wife - to not kill you - and to even help you with the piece...

That's it exactly. Thanks for bringing that up. Those people crack me up. I can't idetify with them at all. They had a different idea of fun back then.
Yes my wife is very awesome.

actually it made me laugh! i smiled when i saw the guy with the clock and the pistol- and i laughed when i found the poor fellow in the background! sure funny to imagine all that innocent people being whipped around! - i really dont get why somebody would sit so distracted on a gryphons tail- guess there must be some occult meaning...

I'm glad you saw some humor in it. I'm not sure about the total meaning of the picture either. I just thought it would be fun to have all these nice victorian propper people partisipating in an event that will bring large amounts of pain and carnage. The real picture is 10 seconds after he shoots the gun I guess. Thanks so much for commenting.

Maybe you cant see so much fun in the pic cause you "suffered" doing it... but,yes it is funny and nicely drawn and colored. - if you wouldnt have said that you used cut-outs i wouldnt have noticed at all- and cutting is not an crime-if the result is good - keep em coming!
