Jingle tingle tore, it’s time for some AltLight lore!
...that was probably the dumbest intro I could have written...

The idea this drawing represents is a relatively simple one: Dharkon draws power from negative emotion. This is because the form of dark magic he figureheads is, for lack of a better explanation, a tangible manifestation of angst. In other words, metaphorical darkness transformed into literal darkness. All inhabitants of the multiverse make a little contribution to Dharkon’s power- little enough that a single character’s bad emotions basically do nothing, but the sheer scale of the multiverse- or should I say, omniverse- is plenty enough to make up for it. That said, Dharkon and at least some of his high ranking Shaders can use a technique (name TBD) in which they focus their siphoning on a particular character, which provides a boost in power. Then again, there’s also Volunteers (people who voluntarily join Dharkon and wield his brand of dark magic), who have to use this move in order to complete the ritual that grants proper access to Dharkonian magic.

Dharkon doesn’t really have to do anything to feed on negative emotion/angst/pain/suffering/*insertedgywordhere*. It just kind of... soaks into him. Not that he can literally eat it, when he doesn’t have a mouth. Of course, Dharkon can take humanoid forms in which he does have a mouth. And even though he doesn’t need actual food, he’ll occasionally munch on something anyway whenever he has a mouth. Mostly because it belongs to someone else. Or IS someone else. Because as a result of being negativity incarnate, Dharkon wants to make everyone suffer, and since he also embodies chaos, how he does that is very unpredictable.

Remember, children: every tear you shed is a speck of the spaghetti monster’s lunch! 😊
