Hello! Whoa... I had to use a very old account to comment here! Have not used Deviantart for years!..
As a women who also does historical reenacting of the french and Indian war, aka seven years war, I really love your Belle, she is lovely and very accurate. I would like to share my interpretation in cosplay of your design. www.facebook.com/pg/LAnachroni…

Wow. So Belle was only missing a hat? I like this one.

Everyone needed a hat in the 18th century!

This looks absolutely amazing! (They should have also used it for the 2017 film!)

Thank you! A few talented costumers cosplayed this design, they certainly made it look good in person!

I highly recommend looking up Belle's yellow gown from the Paris production at the Theatre Mogador. It's my favorite historical inspired version of her gown! Here's a video of the dance scene: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gYlSe… I've been obsessing over it ever since I first saw this production. I'm going to be wearing something similar to a ball in Versailles, but mine isn't nearly as magical!

Hey! I just bought a book on 18th century costuming and I thought it'd be okay, but I thought I should definitely ask permission first. I ADORE this imagining and I was hoping you'd give me permission to recreate it. I'll be debuting the cosplay at Colossalcon in Sandusky, OH this year. I'm so stoked, I can barely wait two days for the book to arrive in the mail lmao.

I will! I'm so excited! Only a couple days until I purchase my stays and get started! It is American Duchess's book, yes. There are some really lovely instructions. I'll have to do some finagling on designs they give to make it work but I'm confident. c:

You should anyway lol. It's such a beautiful book and very informative. I don't know, it might even help with some of your art reconstructions to know how exactly some of these were made and junk.
I was looking at fabric out of boredom and I found a beautiful solid blue cotton but I'm considering switching out the brown skirt for this www.fabric.com/buy/0448666/ros… . I don't think I'll use it cause it's a lil fancy for peasant Belle but it got me thinking. I will probably end up making the skirt blue too for a more obviously Belle look though, if that's all right.

What about Lumiere, as a suggestion (Not a request), in gold baroque outfit with flaming ginger hair as Thomas Jefferson.

This is such a beautiful piece! I'm a cosplayer and historical costumer, and I wanted to ask if you would be okay with me making a costume based on your design. I would of course link here to provide credit (and I'd be happy to link to your Instagram account and Facebook page if you have them). You can see examples of my past costumes at inthelongrun.wordpress.com/.

Awesome, thank you so much! I'm pumped to make a Belle costume after seeing the new movie, but I'm feeling your design more than the costumes in the film. Must be the historical costumer in me.

Thanks for the pattern info! I have actually used one of the JP Ryan jacket patterns before with good results, so it's helpful to know that you were thinking of those as reference. On fabric, I was thinking possible using a plain weave linen or wool for the blue shortgown, then maybe also a dark brown wool or linen for the petticoat skirt.

Thank you! The red shoes and necklace were a happy accident. I had planned on wearing my black 1700s shoes, but I remembered that my red ones were more comfortable for a full day at a convention (yes, I have multiple reproduction 18th century shoes...I may have a problem...). Then I decided to pull out that coral necklace since it matched. I didn't realize it would pop so well in photos.
I will let you know when I have more photos posted! And thanks again for being so gracious about me cosplaying your design. This has been a fun project/collaboration!

Thanks! I'm leaning towards wool too, in part because I haven't sewn with it in a while and it's nice to change things up a bit. I'm excited to go fabric shopping!

Probably, depending on the household and rank of the servant.

What are the best 18th century drawings or painting of male and female servants of that time?
I had heard that servants working for royalty at that time had to follow strict dress codes.
