I got told this story every time I misbehaved >.<  I was so scared and I got teased for being afraid of the 'Butterchurn Witch'.

            Russian joy.

I thought this was a tribute to the Ragnarok Online monster. I didn't know it was it's own entity.

DO you by any chance know where I can find more info on slavic folklore online or elsewhere? Especially different versions of Baba Yaga/Hut on fowl's legs? Can't really find anything

I have a weird fascination fixation with Baba Yaga. But she's not Russian, she's Slavic.

if I may say Baba Yaga didn't acutely originate in russia but in Ukraine however the particular Baba Yaga in you portrait is the Russian Baba Yaga. In Ukrainian folklore the Baba Yaga is an old hag with evil powers who lives in a house that has chicken legs.
I do love this picture though I love that you incorporated the children's face adds more reality as well as a story to the picture.

Thats not right... There is no Ukrainian or Russian Baba Yaga. She is the one and only And to be clear - this image of angry old lady with evil powers was created by early christians who came to invade our lands. Real Baba Yaga was a very clever woman who takes care of orphans and works like some kind of school for children. She weared gold only on her shoes - that showed her disrespect for this metal. And later christians scared there children telling the stories about Baba Yaga, who supposed to steal children and cook them in her house in the forest. Actually, thats can be true for them - because not less then 8 millions Slavs died with the help of christians...

Hello Acidman4ik, how I can get this information and more about what you are telling? I wanna do a project with the legends witches without the bad visions christians about them  (such as baba yaga according Clarissa P.E)

Its very simple... You can ask everything you want... May be its better to talk using some social network as FB or VK... I can tell you about russian "witches" all you want to know. May be smth about others...
