Description On my recent media trip to the U.S. we filmed motocross champion Chad Reed for a couple of days. . . Here he and his wife (and dog) were flying back to San Diego from Denver. . . . The sunset backdrop caught my attention and I took a few shots which weren't part of my brief.

When I saw it I had to take the shot, even though I was on assignment and rushing to get to another airport for a flight.

take off into that foreboding sky!

Not to criticize your work, because most, if not all is great, but I've noticed most of your photos are very grainy.

What is the ISO you take the majority of your photos with?

wildplaces In reply to Hawk2064 [2006-11-04 22:53:54 +0000 UTC]

This shot was taken on film and scanned. I always lose resolution in the scanning process.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hawk2064 In reply to wildplaces [2006-11-06 00:56:20 +0000 UTC]

Yep, I guess the scanner would cause that. Overall your work is awesome, so don't let my comment make you think otherwise.

wow - i really like how the suns rays cut through the clouds on this one. The plain seems almost unreal due to the light quality!

Thanks. I was photographing the sportsman departing on the plane for a magazine article - then I saw that great sky as a backdrop . . .

Not usually. That was a gig that came out of the blue. . . I wouldn't mind getting more of them. . . I'm generally landscape / portrait / glamour / wedding.

What can I say. My grandaughter woke up from her nap as I was viewing it. I didn't realize it yet. Then the next thing I hear is, "Plane!"

LOL. . . I hoped she liked the sunset too.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

wa11a6y-shots In reply to wildplaces [2006-09-11 00:40:38 +0000 UTC]

She just kept pointing and saying, "Plane!" rather emphatically. She flew with her folks to Hawaii in August to visit her other grandparents. So jet liners are within her field of personal experience.

I'm sure it was the sunset, though, that made her repeat it 8 times instead of just 4.

It ruined a perfectly good photo!

*L*... don't like airplane photos, big cruise ships, or anything like that! Those kinds of machines are just for traveling and not photographing! ( At least for me! ...i know people that collect boat and airplane photos, but i still don't get it! )
