This is a great depiction of the hallucination sequence in the game. I love Trace's expression, the way his hair looks and how you captured the creepy talking faces on the walls. It's great!

in fact, all the artwork you've made for Axiom Verge is so good! It could be collected and made into a little story booklet to go along with the game.

I'm still very proud of this drawing: it was very close of what I intended to draw.

Here's my theory why Trace remembered his past.

Ophelia created Trace from Katrahashka's Nanogates, but while creating Trace from one of Athetos "Saves" of when he was Trace, she deleted some parts of his memory.
But when Trace met himself, i don't think that was part of a hallucination... i think he met another Athetos clone who knew some stuff after the explosion.
Trace Nanogates were wounded by the pathogen (That's why hallucination still remains at the same level of craziness even after you die - pathogen corrupted his "Save"), so they had to take non-wounded nanogates from him, and put him into the Athetos' clone. Thus Trace got memories of Athetos' clone.

It's very obcure why Trace forgot/remember his past, but when he meet himself it's a part of the hallucination. The pathogen didn't really corrupt nanogates' save; nanogates considered it as a part of Trace body (like the bioflux accelerator, or even any kind of bacteria), Ophelia even say she cleared it from the save.
An for the "hallucination Trace", Athetos don't have the access to the save of "player" Trace, he don't even know how the rusalki get it, so is unlikely it's was a clone.

Well, okay...

But i think i realized why Variants call Trace as a Demon.
Variants call every clone of Athetos as DEMON.
Athetos means "Out of place"
So... that makes sense? Demon is someone out of place.

Wow, you've played Axiom Verge too? Awesome! And I can see that being the case for sure.

Though I think that part of the reason Ophelia removed his memory may not have been for good. After seeing some other stuff in the game, I think the Rusalki may have actually been the bad guys, and Athetos was actually trying to stop them, for a couple reasons.
-In the one part after the Aborted Clone's death, when Trace refuses to help anymore, Elsenova painfully kills him then resurrects him again. She was forcing him to help him in a very brutal manner.
-Before fighting Athetos, Trace tells Ophelia to not kill anymore, but she breaks this promise anyways.
-Athetos tells Trace that the Rusalki were the "Masters of War" and he was using the Breach Attractor to keep them from getting out.
-One last part, I recall one scene where Athetos says "If I tell you, They Will Kill You!" Doesn't seem like the Rusalki and the people of Sudra were so innocent after that line.

Perhaps they erased his memory so he wouldn't know what they were actually trying to do, and so that Trace would be more willing to help them in their plan.

I thing you mean Elsenova, not Ophelia.

Indeed, i played it ^_^

But i haven't purchased it... i played a RePack... because i have no money at the time, but i really wanted to play this game.

So? What do you think of my theory about Trace regaining partial memories? ^_^

BTW, nice theory you have ^_^

Man this part was both surprising and disturbing. It was neat that the game actually delivered on the narrative that you were infected with a disease. Still, I didn't expect it to manifest like this at all.

You certainly capture that moment in the game. His face mirrors what I was saying at this point, "What the fuck?!?"
