If you looked at my deviation before this one, you'd know my amusment with the sand bender who had the umbrella in "Appa's Lost Days".
Anyway, I decided it was time for my own Avatar the Last Airbender OC so I based him off the umbrella sand bender. He even has an umbrella.

This is Jin Hai, my sand bender.
Jin Hai, Golden Sea. I am so creative. No, I am. His name is in reference to sand, am I not clever or what?

I'm not entirely sure why the sand benders have their arms bandaged so heavely so I came up for a reason why my guy does. Secured to his arms are two very large pouches that contain sand, each weighing about ten pounds so you would have to imagine the upper body strength he has. Anyway, yeah. That's where his sand is. Kind of like Katara's little water bag, pouch thing. He's totally like Gaara if you think about it, only less scary.

Now here is the thing about his really awesome umbrella. You'll like this, or not and tell me I'm stupid and that it wouldn't work, because in real life people can totally bend fire and air and earth and stuff. Anyway, the Umbrella is plated with thin strips of steal all the way around both inside and outside and he can use it to block certain attacks by other benders and all that jazz.

He's really quiet and seems really mellow but then he has those random ranting-flip-out-Sokka-like moments.
