Description Sand frogs aren't much seen, spending most of their lives underground.  They only emerge during rainy periods, when they feed, meet and breed.  The Russet-backed Sand Frog, Tomopterna marmorata, occurs in warm savannah regions, breeding in quiet stretches of large rivers.  Watercolour.

Great realistic artwork ! I like the mimicry of the skin with the BG.

I like how the background looks shiny and wet, demonstrating that this frog really is out in the rain!

Thanks a lot!  They're pleasant little critters to meet outside on rainy days.

So they spend most of their lives estivating away underground then hop out for a quick fling?  Actually, that sounds like a lot of frogs adapted for desert regions.  Long naps and short social lives only to croak in the end.

Poor things!  Actually they look happy enough!  Thanks for the comment!

They croak with a smile on their faces.  Although this one looks a bit grumpy.
