Creating a future historical timeline is an exceedingly difficult task.

Consider, an event happens, generating consequential effects, the effects of the event generate further events, and the effects of these trail onward through time. In the world many events happen, at differing locations, generated from differing causes, and many of these occur simultaneously, in effect they overlap one another in time as do their consequential effects.

The task I set here was to illustrate this in a simple easy to understand format.

The upper graph – Events Duration – is composed of horizontal bars which represent the duration of events and their consequential effects – note that some of these fade into one another. The number of years contained within the bars is not to be read as a representation of sequential time – as some event chains happen at the same time as others and thus the trailing sequences of consequential events overlap one another.

The lower line graph depicts Event Sequence and is demarcated in +Years counting from the founding of the Mars Settlement.
