This artwork is inspired by this Arthur fanfiction I read www.fanfiction.net/s/12696217/… It's called "There's Something About DW by a writer named Opel Vectra (I don't know the author, never met her.) I recommend reading her fic!

After reading that fanfic, I decided to do artwork of Dora Winifred ("D.W.") Read and Carl Gould the autistic rabbit boy that we love so much, at least I do! And I've been wanting to draw this for quite a while, even planned to more recently but I've either been too busy or too tired or something else. BUT NOW I FINALLY GOT THIS DONE!

Carl and DW really did meet each other in the episode "He Said, He Said" and actually had some interaction with her! And so far the two got along with each other!

I do wonder if DW and Carl would really get along with each other and I am a bit concerned about their relationships with each other with DW being the way she is (bossy, manipulative, complaining, mean, etc.) and Carl having autism and being sensitive and having his way of doing things. I mean sure DW got along with Binky and they became friends in "The Chips are Down" but in "DW Dancing Queen," DW and Binky did argue with each other. And I'm pretty sure DW and Carl are going to have their differences as well, although with Arthur ending after Season 25, we may never see that for sure, and I don't think I'd want to!

I also wonder about Arthur's relationship with Carl after seeing "He Said, He Said," since Arthur is into more mature things and questioned Carl when he was helping DW and Bud build the cow tower. I mean the way I see it, Arthur thinks he's too old for things like Mary Moo Cow and even called out Buster for sucking his thumb, reminding Buster that he was 8 years old, just like Arthur himself. And I feel like Arthur didn't like that Carl was playing with DW and playing with little-kid toys and that must have struck Arthur as odd since Carl is 8-years-old, and Arthur must have thought Carl should be doing things kids his age do (I've been thinking of doing fanart of something like that but nothing too fancy or elaborate so you don't get your hopes too high or get too excited!) Carl may be 8 years old but he has his way of having fun even if it's more like DW's than like Arthur's and I can totally understand that, me being autistic myself!

Okay I really am curious as to how Carl and DW would fare with each other! And will DW care if Carl hates loud noises? Then again maybe they would get along! But we'll probably never know!

I struggled with this picture, especially with drawing DW, I don't draw her all that often and she's more complicated to draw, well she and the other female characters are more complicated to draw than the male characters, although some of the male characters are more complicated to draw than others. Carl is hard to draw too but not as hard as DW! But I've had to keep starting over when drawing DW, making sure she wasn't too big or too small and that she was level with Carl! This was hard but I was determined to get this picture up! And I wanted this to look really good, a few of my previous drawings of Carl came out looking tacky and I didn't want this to be tacky too!
