Amazing textures, the scales must have been a pain to make but nevertheless they look splendid. The pose too is really interesting, the shadowing helps a lot making the picture realistic.

You truly made a beautiful picture there... plus I love snakes hehe

Hurrah!

A scottish naga...that's new.
But I think he should have a slightly more scottish name. McSunty?

Xanther is neither scottish nor a naga... he's the elemental God of Earth in an imaginary world.

Alright.
I called him a naga because I didn't have any other word. Scottish 'cos he's wearing a kilt. Sorry about that.
Ok, I gettit. I never thought you get Gods of elements...spirits, yeah, but Gods are too trivial...sorry, I'm babbling.

oh, no, lots of polytheistic religions have gods for the elements. Gods of the ocean, of the wind, of thunder... but Amnaster (my world) has eight major divinities: the Twins (creation and destruction), and the six Elemental Guardians: Jehal (light), Hollen (fire), Arian (wind), Samiel (darkness), Basten (water) and Xanther (earth, the one pictured here). All the other gods are minor deities affiliated with one or more of the Guardians.

See? I'm babbling, too! I love my world.

Heh... really, no offense taken. I did put naga as a keyword for him, because that's what he looks like.

Ja, I babble. Once, this guy asked me if all lizard aliens were evil, and wanted to know the best way of killing them, so I made this long llist of every alien species I know with scales, and It turns out that only two or three come under the Human or Rah definition of Evil...and...

oh, I have lizard aliens... they're usually not evil at all, though one of them is known for being cynical and grumpy. Considering that he used to be a human soldier, I'd think his character flaws are entirely justified.

Fair enough.
...alothough almost every sentient life form I've met has a slightly warped moral system.

Definitely breath taking! The general composition is excellent and the textures are amazing. I didn't saw any flaws at first glance, but since you encouraged advance critique I decided to analyze it thoroughly and two thing that you might want to improve on future works could be a) foreshortening of arms and hands (which is pointless to mention since it is an issue to almost every artist) and b) coherence of the lighting sources. Still this is an amazing piece of art and I feel somehow bad about pointing those out.
