Did you apply a thick adhesive so the feathers couldn't move?

I first glued the overlapping feathers with a PVA glue, and then once dry, I put a thin layer of watered-down acrylic paint, which helps 'glue' the feather vanes together.

I mount them on matboard (as seen here) with wire or thread around the feather quills, and then put that in a frame or shadowbox.Β You can see an example of it framed here - twitter.com/brendalyonsart/staβ¦
