Description
A poster created based on Frederico Fellini's film, La Strada. I aimed to capture the likeness of the character Gelsomina. The movie is quite tragic, and definitely not something to watch if you want to stay cheerful for the rest of the day. It was quite powerful.This is yet another bit of practice at portraiture and conceptual illustration.
Graphite and watercolor on cold-press watercolor paper with digital text, about 9.2 X 14.5 inches.

The transitions in color are really awesome! Did you paint all the colors wet on there at the same time?

The ribbons are just one layer of color - I added the yellow and red while the 'stripe' was wet. For the face, I layered.
