I haven't done one of these in a REALLY LONG time.Here is WindSeeker in all her glory. I think you need to download the fullsize in order to read what's on there, sorry for the small print (oh the Irony!)
She's my "wereside" if you will, a representation of my soul. Thus, she is NOT a "character" or a "fursona" She is a Phoenilupix, a unique hybridization (though through magic, not birth) of a Phoenix and Wolf.
I was inspired by 's amazing reference sheets, and hope that this will suffice.
Many hours in Photoshop CS3, and with my tablet.

I imagine she's a kid and probably copied my character because she's cool. In those cases, it doesn't really bug me too much as they don't generally know any better.

But then it would be a job rather than for enjoyment. I don't take many paid commissions because doing art for money isn't as enjoyable.

Although in your comments you say she is not a "fursona" to you but she is a representation of your soul. To me the term "fursona" means "representation of the soul in a nonhuman/animal-like form" but I suppose your definition might be different.

Wow, I havn't seen you do a reference of Windy in a long time hun. She looks absolutely beautiful.
I must say though...she's made some drastic changes in physical appearance since I first saw her. Wow, that seems like so long ago!
My ramblings aside though...
Very nice work on everything. I still love the markings, and the crest is amazing. Not to mention, I really like how you've made sure to point out all the subtle nuances about her in your notes. I know how unhappy you are when folks put markings on both sides of her wings, instead of just the inside, or assume she's a simple white instead of her blue-white

One question though...
I've never heard you refer to her as a Phoenilupix before. Is that a new designation? Or has she (or myou, I suppose as the case may be) incorporated some new aspects that have changed her into something she wasn't before?
Just seems to me that she was always just...a "Wingy Wolf" before

Nah, I don't remember when I started using the term to describe her. I created the term because I didn't like describing her as a "Phoenix Wolf", because that really didn't describe what she is. The term "Phoenilupix" I think better identifies the mixture of the two. Hope that helps

Very cool. I see you've made some changes to what I normally see as the character's general structure. I especially like that long graceful neck of the phoenix side.
If you're ever up for an art trade, let me know, although I may have to find a better canner first.

VERY nice job here...the level of detail is just wonderful!
One very interesting thing about the pose in the full-body shot...I'm reminded of a gryphon--though I am SO glad you didn't go with the "chicken legs" you see on so many avian/mammalian hybrids!
And, as I think you did in previous versions, I like the fact that you give her a wingspan that actually looks like it would be able to bear her weight. One thing I would have been curious to see is what the wings look like tucked up against the back. Or is that what the first picture shows? If so, then those wings must fold up REALLY tight!
One last point that's interesting, although I have no idea what it means (and it probably means nothing other than we really like our imaginations). I notice you point out that WindSeeker does not share your disabilities. Rather ironic that of the two of us, I (who have no visual difficulties to speak of) am the one who has the main character...well, a whole Order of them...who do!

Yes, she does have very large wings, but she wouldn't be able to fly if they were smaller. I just can't get over the amount of creatures with wings that could not support them. I figured the wingspan based on her height (I used my fingers to measure 5ft increments on the small body with the wings attached. The larger body (and I should have mentioned this on the sheet) is absent the wings so her topline can be seen. As for the wings at rest, there wasn't room, and I kinda see them as frosing over the base of her tail. Its not the most important thing either
The reason Wind doesn't have disabilities.... I guess its because the disabilities I do have are not a part of my "soul" persay. They are merely an inconvenience of my physical body. I am not my disabilities, if you will. Added to that, I just don't... sense she has them, if that makes sense.

LOL--true about the KFC legs! Although as much as I like them, I'm not exactly crazy about what they might do to my arteries...
That you did go with the larger wings is one thing I like...attention to those kinds of details about what's physically possible helps to make a fantastical creature that much more believable and easier to imagine in the real world.
And obviously a person is not their disabilities--I've just seen different approaches from different artists/writers as to how much of their lives, talents, abilities, and other aspects, to include disabilities, in their main characters. It really seems to run the gamut among authors. I know I've split up a good number of my own traits among my characters (though I can tell you their physical prowess does NOT come from me!
