"Armitage" aired in one year with the "Ghost in the Shell" film.
If "Armitage" was aired in 1994 or 1996 it could change cyberpunk in anime as a genre. 
"GitS' was about philosophy but "Armitage" was about how mind of society will change when robots start to replace people. With an envy, lust, fear, hate and all this stuff...
It looks more realistic, don't you think?

That's a really good point! Maybe it's just that I didn't understand, but I get the impression GITS was trying a bit too hard with it's philosophical aspects.
