On Aria's change of appearance:

The energy Radiali pull from the crystals scattered across Alistrin has a wide range of possible uses. Energy blasts are most commonly used in combat because they are wildly effective, but many of Aria’s comrades use it in it’s solidified form as weapons. Once made completely solid the energy remains so even if the user is unconscious, so many Radiali manipulate it to form their clothes (usually wearing some light, non-energy based underclothes in case something happens to the top layer) Long hair is a symbol of power in Radiali as their hair grows as an immediate result of energy intake/storage. It wont shorten past a certain origin point that is their actual haircut, but this is usually fairly short anyway. Some have tried to grow their hair to mask how weak they are, but there is an easy test to see if this is the case: cut the hair and see how far it grows back in the seconds after.

Currently Aria’s hair is at it’s actual cut, she has only a minimum amount of energy so she is adapting to simple cloaks and melee weapons that won’t waste what she has.

As you may have noticed from her audition, she has a high threshold for pain. The fact that, at the time, she had a large surplus of energy also means the (very painful looking) blow didn't do as much. Of course when she got pulled and lost most of that energy she was in trouble.
