I love the Ghostbusters, both movies and the 80's cartoon, The Real Ghostbusters... I wondered why it was called "The Real" Ghostbusters... Wondered if the movies were actually based on a comic but the cartoon creators believed they had gotten it wrong... Actually, that's not the case... it did start with the movie. But then, another cartoon came out and called itself Ghostbusters to cash in on the popularity of the name... This cartoon had nothing to do with Egon Spengler, Peter Venkman, Raymond "Ray" Stantz, Winston Veddemore, Janine Melnitz, Dana Barett or even Slimer... So, when the official cartoon came, they called it "The Real Ghostbusters"...

One thing sorta bugged me as a kid... why did they change the hair colours... well, it was just to avoid confusion between the characters since they were very much simplified and the original actors almost all had the same hair colour or pretty darn close.

So, early last year, I was watching the two movies at work and thought... wouldn't it be cool if they made another cartoon that was even closer to the original movies? Like a cross between the movies and the cartoon. So, I started drawing my version of those characters... trying to remain as faithful as possible to the movies(while mixing Harold Ramis' Egon with the cartoon version, I thought his cartoon hair was kinda cool... I had no reference for the cartoon versions though)... I ended up drawing the characters twice... One, well, I didn't use any reference for the first Egon since I was going for a mix between TV and movies.

And then, I drew the characters based on the first movie and all second sketches are based on the second movie.

Well... almost all of the characters... I drew Louis Tully(Rick Moranis) from the first movie... I'm not sure if he was in the second movie at the moment... I just drew him once anyway.

So, here are Louis, Egon, Ray, Peter and Winston, Janine and the Ghostbusters(I) Logo.
