Description

The grullo rocketed out of the trailer, and into the waiting arena. Alex fought to hold onto his lead, but the stallion reared up, tearing the red and white rope out of his hands. Alex let out a pained cry as the rope burned his skin, releasing it to prevent farther damage. Mateo watched in horror as his boyfriend was cornered by the rearing horse. He could do nothing, and what would he do if he could even get in there? Mateo was new to the farm, though he'd been eager to learn how to work with the horses. But he was not skilled like Alex and Nick, and often felt out of place in the triad, truth be told. But he wasn't going to be new forever. Still, today, there was little he could do, as Alex fought the stallion for the right not to be an ass. The horse was cantering around the arena now, but Alex managed to snatch his lead as he cruised by. The stallion came to a halt as the lead jerked tight, and he snorted. But he didn't rear up again. Alex would never be cruel to a horse...but letting the dumbass run to the end of his rope? Literally? That was something that sometimes had to happen.

"All right," the blonde breathed heavily. "You wanna play?" He asked. Roquin eyed him, but didn't dare move. The stud raised his tail, flagging. But he was still. Alex moved towards the edge of the arena. And surprisingly enough to Mateo, the horse followed. Mateo's jaw dropped, as he watched Alex pat the horse's shoulder.

"He's being good for like point five seconds," Alex warned, already seeing the stud's eyes go back. "He's showy; wants all the pretty ladies to look at him, I guess," he snorted. Though the stud seemed less inclined to mares, as he passed the stud pasture. Great, just what they needed. Because there wasn't enough drama here already. But Alex couldn't help but chuckle to himself, as he saw Mateo's terrified expression.

"It's okay, babe," he promised. Mateo nodded, still at a loss for words. Alex moved to take the stallion to his pasture, and the horse followed, though he charged the gate.

"Acht," Alex corrected, circling the stud. "We wait. We have manners," he said. Like a two year old Obertaurer knew what 'manners' were. How lucky Nick was, to get an older, seasoned mare, Alex thought to himself. But he was secretly glad to get to train up the young horse himself; it was going to be a challenge worth his time.

"All right, let's go," he said, once he had the stud standing at the gate. The horse rushed through, nearly yanking Alex's shoulder out of its socket as he rocketed towards the paddock.

"Bastard," Alex called, reining in the horse. "Fuckin' dick," he snarled, as he glowered at the horse. But his eyes shone with love, despite the language.

"C'mon," he said, taking the red halter off the horse's face. Immediately, he jumped back, as Roquin rocketed away, kicking at Alex's face..."accidentally."

"Jeez, you okay?" Mateo asked, rushing to Alex's side.

"He missed me," Alex assured his boyfriend, smiling. "Now, c'mon, Nick's waiting for us to get back home with allll the details," he said, hanging the halter on its hook on the paddock gate, and moving towards the house. Roquin was home, thank God. And he wouldn't have to leave again any time soon.  Again, thank whatever pantheon one believed in, because he was going to be a handful.
