Personality:

Storm is a very closed-off person.  He keeps to himself, and it is not easy to get him to open up about anything.  He trusts slowly, if at all.  No one is sure what he’s dealt with in his past, but he might open up to the right person.  Storm loves a good joke, practical or otherwise, but doesn’t enjoy humor that is hurtful to others (unless it’s a way to deal with their trauma).  He is very particular about who he communicates with, and how he interacts with people.  Storm has very rigid scheduling needs, but ironically has a very difficult time sticking to his schedule.  Storm can often be found daydreaming, to the point that he sometimes forgets work that he’s supposed to be doing.

Storm has a lot of things going on in his life, including the fact that he’s developed DID as a child, and has dealt with it most of his life.  Although he has mostly reached a stage of integration with low dissociative barriers, he connects well with Curtis (who has the same condition) because they understand each other.  Storm does not have active switches, because almost all alters are present or accessible at the same time, and when he does switch, it is mostly imperceptible to those who do not know him super well.  Storm has managed to make himself safe to be around horses, much like Curtis.  The two of them have developed a system of integration, and while both still have Alters, they do not need to use system names or multiple names to differentiate who’s who, because the headmates have a good connection with each other.  Without Curtis’s lead, Storm may have never gotten here, but he is proud of how far he’s come…even if it feels weird to be proud of anything because of how his family took credit for all his accomplishments as a kid.

Storm suffers from anxiety and depression, which are common for systems.  He is doing better, medicated and in therapy for his conditions.  Storm is flourishing around horses, as he never had a background with live animals, but collected every doll, plush, and Breyer model he could get his hands on as a kid.

History

Any Trigger Warnings?: Child Abandonment; Verbal Abuse; Physical Abuse

Storm had a tumultuous family life.  Unless he was achieving great things, his family never gave him any attention.  He was the golden child, so he had to be perfect.  If he was not perfect, love and affection were withheld until he did better.  Not to mention, his older brother experienced the brunt of his family’s attacks, both physical and verbal.  Storm spent much of his time watching his idol be mistreated, and begging for love and attention of his own in his daily life.  As Storm aged, he became more mentally and physically ill, which forced his family to face the reality that their golden child was not capable of bringing “honor” to the family.  Instead of making space for Storm, they doubled down, and became neglectful to him.  Storm had to feed himself, do all the chores in the house by the time he was 12, and generally care FOR his family.  Storm grew to resent this, but because he’d been conditioned from a very young age, he never fully cut contact with his family.

That was, until he met Alex and the crew.  Curtis and he connected well, and Storm told snippets of his family life to the redhead.  Meanwhile, Alex saw the way that Storm’s family treated him, through Storm’s complaint about vicious text messages, manipulative family dinners, etc.  Alex encouraged him to lean on the SWS crew for his needs, and after probably a year or two, Storm began to do just that.  He eventually got up the courage to cut contact with his family, and has been happier ever since.

Storm’s DID was devastating.  He discovered his system probably five years ago, and spent most of his time in dissociative fugue, not knowing who he was, where he was, or what he was doing a lot of the time.  He forgot a lot, and had memories withheld by his gatekeeper in other cases.  Over time, he began to feel comfortable and healthy enough to start going to therapy for his condition, and with plenty of help and support, he lowered his dissociative barriers enough that he could communicate well with his alters at any given point.

Storm does not have sudden switches unless EXTREMELY stressed these days.  He can force switches, but generally lets himself slip in and out of personalities without too much worry about suddenly not remembering important events.  In his head, his alters communicate so well that he is considered “integrated” by his headmates.  He still has alters, and he is still able to/forced to switch from one to another, but he is not a danger to the horses - or himself around the horses.

In fact, Storm is doing quite well.  His anxiety is lessening, his medical treatment is going well, and he has great system communication.  He attributes this all to Alex and family, but Curtis nudges him to try and take some credit for himself, too.
