It seems as if hanging with children has rubbed off on her, because when she isn't in a murderous rampage, she actually likes the kids and want to play around with them until their untimely demise. Technically, Maggie had no childhood, since she wasn't exactly born, like a human being would be. She was created through some sort of ritual during the early 1800's. The creators of her were a group that were planning to start a business based around the 'top new thing of the century'. But, like usual, there was competition with it, so in order to get them higher than the rest, they played dirty. Contacting a cultist group, they Considering that magicians were getting bigger during this time era, it wasn't surprising that she was made for that. So, in a way, she used dark magic when she performed. She was an automatic hit, despite the cheating ways of her creators. She was now: "Magic Maggie! Master of Illusions and All Magic!" She chose it, since she had a conscience like a real person and a large ego. It was true, she was the master. Though, it was short lived when one of her performances went out of whack, making her kill an audience member and wound others. It was completely accidental, so when it happened, she was horrified beyond your beliefs. She was hated, she was feared. She was a demon. The profit dropped tremendously for the crew, and they could only do one thing: put her away for a while. 'A while' being forever. They believed her to be a mistake and a failure, so she wouldn't be able to be of any use to them anymore. So she was sealed away into this religious box, or 'chest'. Her being a 'demonic' being (which she was since she was created in a cult and cults are bad), they sealed her in a holy box, so that she wouldn't be able to get out. That is, unless it were opened again. They hid the box away and moved on, leaving that memory in the past.
About 200 years plus years later, someone found the box. They put it up on sale in some sort of pawn shop, and a person bought it almost immediately. It was a religious-type chest, so a family who was very religious bought it for their daughter. The daughter's name was Julie, and it was her 8th birthday. She wasn't as religious as her parents, especially her father, so they (or he) were trying to get her into it. When she got it, she thought it was a jewelry box, so she liked it immediately. When she opened it, she was pelted with dust, due to it being hundreds of years old. It then became a box for her belongings. Later that night, when she was going back to her room from dinner, she was face to face with a female magician. This female magician just happened to be Maggie. She was different though. Appearance-wise, it was the same. But her demeanor and personality changed dramatically. While stuck in that box, she had time to think. All she thought about was the day everything went bad, the day she lost her freedom. She was guilt-ridden, and all that happened ran through her head, driving her to insanity, basically. Now she was out of that box, she was free and now she doesn't have to be back in that box again! She introduced herself to Julie, and they became instant friends, despite Julie's evident fear of the sudden stranger in her room. They talked and Maggie would show her tricks. Though, it got the attention of her parents, who were confused on who she was talking to. Her mother assumed it was an imaginary friend, and her father thought it was insanity or the devil's work. Maggie got to choose who saw her and who didn't, so she only allowed children to see her, for now. It didn't help Julie at all, but Maggie could care less since she was just setting up her plan. She needed her revenge on mankind for what they did to her all those years ago.
Maggie stuck around for a while, watching as her father went nuts at the changes in his daughter. The mother was a pacifist, so she tried to reason with her husband. But he believed she was a spawn of the devil and only threw insults her way. He was also drinking, so that only fueled it. Julie was very upset at it and took her anger out on the one and only Maggie. She yelled at her and said rude things, which it didn't sit well with Maggie, since it happened to be the same insults she got back in the 1800's. So, she attacked Julie. Being a magician and a now-murderer, her ways of killing were psychotic and brutal. She would've used her magic tricks on her, but she wanted that for the parents. The parents had ran into the room, hearing Julie's screams because of her insides being ripped out. Maggie slowly materialized into her form so that she could be visible to the parents. Julie died moments later. Her father was going to attack her, but she used hypnosis on him and made him attack and kill his wife instead. That's when the cops came and Maggie disappeared. They saw the father and arrested him, despite his idiotic claims. He was sent to the nearest psychiatric home, but it wasn't over. Maggie isn't one to leave survivors. She had taken the box she was kept in, despite her hatred towards it, because it was something that would help induce fear into people. Which it drove the father mad, and after a couple days, she killed him by stuffing him into a box and poking miniature swords into them (it's a magic trick, if you didn't know). Instead of having him be find, they all pierced through him. The people found him on the floor with multiple stab wounds, since Maggie didn't want to leave evidence of her being there. All that was there was words, written in blood, that read: "Wanna see a magic trick?" So, she continued on her revengeful rampage, doing the same to others.
