Description This file will allow you to make a cherry blossom petal brush set.

I'm offering this for free, with the only request being a comment if you use it. It would make me happy to know that someone enjoyed this or found it useful. Not demanding a link because people are disinclined to, but I'd appreciate it.

I was going to make a brush set, but there are problems with compatibility with PS5.5., which I used for a long time and know it sucks when you find a great brush set but can't even use it.

Instructions:

Download the file (hit the downward pointing arrow button next to the magnifying-glass-shaped Full View button)
Extract the .psd file
From there, capture your brushes however you like.

I'm adding a background and some effects to my little sister's picture while she was posing for her ballet pictorial for the ballet class's yearbook. (do they even have a yearbook for ballet?) She's supposed to be standing in the middle of a lake at a night with a full moon.

Oh? What's your colouring method? There are a few tutorials out there that might help.

I have a mouse so I mostly use the magic wand, fill, and shift+click for the brush.

You may benefit from learning the "cuts" or "cut and grad" technique used in comics, if you're not already familiar. There are a few tutorials available on deviant art--just search "cuts tutorial"--and Mark Sweeney's site has several awesome tutorials. Modern comic colourists use selection tools quite a lot. Most do have tablets, but not everybody.

Daisuke132 [2007-08-26 17:20:38 +0000 UTC]

how do you capture?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

winterbourne In reply to Daisuke132 [2007-08-26 22:45:28 +0000 UTC]

The short answer: select the elements of the image you want to make a brush from, go to Edit - Define Brush. At least for PS 7, anyhow.

There are a few tutorials written for later versions out there, but I use 7 so that's all I know.
