edit: Updated version here [link]I've been wanting to paint something like this in a while. I know it might seem as if these warriors would die by a heat stroke! Think about it for a sec, have some thoughts about the future. What if these uniforms have some sort of cooling system running underneath? I mean technology is getting smaller by the years, I've read about a new lcd tv thats about 2-3 centimeters thick. I am pretty sure our soldiers in the future will be able to do things like no other
Might do a in-helmet hud painting sometime, should be fun with all of this idea that's flowing in my head.

Your "climare control" mechanism is actualy in the works. During my first Iraq tour I saw a unit that was fielding 1,200 modular "A/C packs." It was in a case that slung to the side with a hose that ran up behind your body armor. The thing weighed like 15 pounds, and for that very reason; Soldiers didn't wear it. Why carry that when you can carry more ammo right? The army also has a prototype helmet apart of the Solider 2020 program that in theory will be ballistic, have built in NVG's or thermals, climate control, NBC detection capabilities, Comms, Blue force tracker like GPS, and up to date real time video feed back so that a 6 element can see every part of the battlefield. Shoot, move, communicate. I see it taking a little longer them 10 years but I would LOVE to be proved wrong on this bit of technology.

The cooling system is a great idea. Since you told me that you were there for awhile I guess you'd know more the most of us.
Looks really cool too. Very authentic looking with the men taking cover and the rubble every where.

i think i read in popular science that they are looking into a cooling system for suits... seems like it would be far off though sadly... you'd think that they might try harder considering anyone knows that you can't focus and work as well when you're dehydrating just thinking hah... oh well, someday solder suits are gonna mean hard. core. - sweet pics, im watchin now

I love paintings of futuristic designs, especially of military/weaponry. It takes a lot of knowledge about modern weapons and soldiers to envision and create realistic ideas, and a lot of skill to paint them as you have. Great work, and thanks for your service in the military.

Dude, this is a sick piece, dont get me wrong, but the soldiers look alot like the ODST's from Halo. Is this the final design or are you still tweaking it?

i really like how the lighting turned out.you can feel the warmth,sometime in the morning or early evening im guessing from the shadows.
nice sense of tension too,you can feel that they are stalking through a dangerous area and watching each others backs.

its definately something the army needs to do - i've actually heard rumors about something like that, but i don't think a helmet is part of it. it would be nice though - maps which you can move around, zooms as part of your view - lots of cool stuff.

this is bad ass dude - looks exactly like the world just outside. i honestly get pissed when people try to show "iraq" or other third world countries and everyone is happy and there is tons of business and animals everywhere... they don't capture the place, they just make what they think is real in their head.
