Description The Riddler
(The Prince of Puzzles)
Name: Edward Nashton (AKA Edward Nigma)
Eyes: Green
Hair: Brown
Height: 6ft 1in
Debut: 1948

When can a brain teaser break your body? The answer; when it was concocted by The Riddler. Edward Nashton was raised by an abusive and hateful father but born with a genius for all things puzzling. With an obsessive compulsive need for attention brought on by his years of neglect, Edward set about to become to most outlandish criminal Gotham City had ever seen. Surrounding his crimes with mind-bending puzzles, clues and riddles to tease and test the police, Edward changed his name to Edward Nigma and the green-suited menace known as The Riddler was born.
Suffering from violent mood swings developed from his attention seeking behaviour, The Riddler seeks only to be recognised for his ingenious intellect by persistently outsmarting the Gotham Police and, of course, the Dark Knight himself. Obsessed with puzzles and riddles, Nigma delights in forewarning the police and Batman himself of his impending mischief in the form of a cryptic clue or a dumbfounding riddle. Though this is often beyond the minds of the police, Batman is often the first to unravel the mystery and be on the scene to stop him. This compulsive need to leave puzzles and clues is often The Riddler’s Achilles Heel, and almost always is directly responsible for his defeat and return to Arkham Asylum
The Riddler was believed to have been reformed, turning away from his life as a criminal and putting his intellect to a more productive use as a private investigator for hire. But this all changed when he solved the greatest riddle of all and deduced Batman’s identity and set his deadliest enemies against him all at once. In spite of this new knowledge, the ultimate weapon to use against his all-time nemesis, The Riddler is keeping it to himself, deciding that a riddle has no value if everyone knows the answer. However, The Riddler’s brief time as a reformed citizen is well and truly over, as he now sets about abducting innocent civilians and placing them in deadly brain testing traps that once more aim to complete Edward’s ultimate goal, to once and for all outsmart and defeat Batman for the entire world to see.
