Amamiya Nadeshiko, Sakura's mother, and Li Ryuuren, Syaoran's father, from my fanfiction the New Trials of Card Captor Sakura [link]This fanart is an old one from over two years ago. It was sitting around on my hard drive, and I decided to quickly color it. Nadeshiko and Ryuuren are actually one of my favorite (non) couples in New Trials. I drew Li Ryuuren with long hair for a change, because that's how he first appears.
I perceive Nadeshiko and Ryuuren's relationship to be a lot different from Sakura and Syaoran's dynamic, despite their many similarities. First off, Li Ryuuren came to Japan when he was 17 and is a second year in Seijou High School, and Nadeshiko was 14. He didn't even recognize her as a rival but rather saw her as a little kid and it took him a long time to see her as a woman. Meanwhile, before Nadeshiko had grown up such a sheltered life, I think Ryuuren probably brought her out of her shell. Their relationship was probably a lot more volatile, sporadic and perhaps passionate than Sakura and Syaoran's, because I don't think Ryuuren and Nadeshiko ever became the good friends that Sakura and Syaoran did over the years.

Okay, there were a lot of mushy Nadeshiko and Ryuuren scenes weaved through out New Trials, but I find that where they were featured the most (and were the closest to one another) was during Chapter 49.9: New Year's Eve Special: The Turning of the Wheels when N&R were in Fantasy and they fell in love with each other in New York. I'm glad that I finally found a place for this!

i like this pic but it's always hard for me to realize that it is Nadeshiko because her hair wsn't that purple, i alwats picturred she'd have a more brownish color

I always have mixed feelings about this couple...Cause i love them and all and i find it sad that their relationship never worked out in the end...Yet i kinda don't like this coupling cause when you think about the chances that if they 'did' get together Sakura and Syaoran would've been siblings (if they were ever born in the first place). And that thought makes me kinda reject the couple...Though this picture is just so beautiful!!!!
Wish Chan truly knows how to catch the feelings of these starcrossed lovers. I mean they have this sort of teasing I-really-want-to-kiss-you-but-we're-starcrossed-lovers thing going on.

This is beautiful, completely breathtaking and yet I'm depressed because it's not Kura-chan and Syao-kun. I do like NadeRyuu (hehehe, Wishluv do you mind if I use the term too?), there is something so heartbreaking yet beautiful and dramatic about these two and their relationship, when ever there are flashbacks to them, I'm like "YAY, more NadeRyuu moments! I don't want them together but gosh their cute togehter!" and they are! Which is annoying because they have more cute and... trying to think up the right word, um... passination moments happening in a few short segments over the course of the 4 arc then S+S have! lol.
Anyway, once again beautiful picture. Those two look so good together that it is almost heartbreaking, but yeah beautifully done.
Can't wait for Chapter 66 and possible more pictures.

Hehe, Selenity and Kirei-chan, opposing views... I sort of hold both views, so it's funny seeing them back to back.
I like NadeRyuu(I'm totally using that now) because they were "doomed for failure" but whenever I write about them, I feel like I'm cheating on Fujitaka. Lol.

Yes, I think the reason I love them so is that it didn't work out. Like how I'll always feel sorry for Meilin-chan, even knowing that S+S are meant to be. It's a bit of a Romeo-and-Juliet-complex, I guess. Say if Sakura ends up with Eron, will that stop us liking S+S? Of course not! Though that's probably a weak comparision.

I have to admit though, I'm not particularly fond of Nadeshiko/Ryuuren! It's not the way you write them (which is lovely) but just the fact that it's Sakura's mother and Syaoran's father! It kind of weirds me out a little, since I love Sakura and Syaoran so much! I guess rather than seeing them as a parallel to Sakura and Syaoran I can only see them as 'if they had worked out, Sakura and Syaoran wouldn't exist'!
(Maybe I'll a little too romantic at heart, too, and can't get past the fact that you know it's doomed to failure)

Squee! Another masterpice by the awsome Wish chan! It's weird, I was actualy listening to a song the other day that I thought fit these two really well. It's called Every Now And Then by Garth Brooks, and it just sort of reminded me of how when Ryuuren went back to Hong Kong, and he just couldn't stop thinking about Nadeshiko, especialy when he would see her modeling pictures. I also liked the part where he says"And she's here, and she's real, but you were two", talking about his wife, and how he's moved on, but he still thinks about her two.
