Technically, panthers are not an individual species. It is a mutation amongst big cats in the Panthera genus (leopards, tigers, lions and jaguars) that causes them to be mostly black. It is most common in leopards and jaguars, which is why spots can be visible.
I suggest you do more research next time.

Where do I say that they're an individual species?

In the credits section, you have listed a leopard as a black panther, when in fact it is just a black leopard.
But I did not comment to criticise, only to inform. Most people don't realise that the panther is in fact a genus, not a species.

As the commonly called black panthers are usually either melanistic jaguars or melanistic leopards, it was meant to make known that the image I used is one of a leopard (Panthera pardus) with that color variant.
I thought it was common knowledge that black panthers are melanistic mutations and not a separate felid species, but I guess I can add a bit of information to the description

Most people I've come across don't know that. I was just making sure.

DID you know that Black Panthers aren't actually black! Cause if you look VERY carefully at a black panther under sunlight you can actually see that it is brown and has spots. Like here [link]

They have spots because they're leopards and jaguars. xD
