Description

The Apathy Pokemon
Ghost-type

Pokédex Entry

They galavant through busy cities and streets, seeking out drama and excitement. They turn themselves invisible or appear as an illusion to suit their needs.

Description

They evolve from Anthenian Haunter or Kantonian Haunter who spend enough time in Anthen before evolving.

These Pokémon eat the emotions of others indiscriminately. Each one has its own preferences, some craving fear and others joy. The ring around their pupils changes colour depending on the emotion they ate last. For example, a lime green often represents envy and jealousy. Once they feed, their victim won't be able to feel that specific emotion for some time. After a brief period of apathy, the person or Pokémon will return to normal. Those who are unhappy like having them around, seeing as they will happily consume all their bad feelings.

These Gengar have gaseous bodies that can easily change shape and colour, even becoming invisible. These illusions are easy to spot in bright daylight but convincing otherwise. They are carefree and only concerned with finding their next meal. They like anything that heightens emotions and as such enjoy drama. They aren’t above causing a little if it means they can have a snack. Don’t be mistaken though – some of them can be quite kind. Although they'll likely steal your happiness away after cheering you up.

They can be trained to eat specific feelings and leave others alone. For this reason, they are often employed as support Pokémon in mental hospitals and recovery care wards, where they consume the negative feelings of the patients. There’s no negative long term effect from a Gengar eating a person’s feelings. When combined with traditional therapy, it can teach the patients how to let go of their feelings. Wild Gengar can be kept away by a Cleanse Tag or strong winds. Their gaseous bodies will get swept away if they aren’t careful.

Posting this here to include in the next chapter of my fanfic
