These gaseous Pokémon can change their appearance to resemble anything they want. They wander the streets at night, looking for someone to scare.

Description

They evolve from Kantonian Gastly and into Anthenian Gengar when traded.

The thin veil in Anthen between the human realm and the hidden one has caused some of the native Pokémon to change their appearance and behaviour. These Haunter no longer bear the signature pink tongue that drain a victim’s life force with one lick. Their mouths are an empty void lined with gaseous fangs. Their preferred food is sucked into that black hole like a vacuum. They desire a very specific emotion – relief.

They’re found most often in hospitals and doctor’s offices, waiting until someone receives good news. Once they do, they consume those feelings of relief, robbing that experience from their victim. Their bodies are gaseous, and they can change shape and colour to appear any way they want. However, this is only a temporary illusion that can be thwarted by strong daylight or winds. They tend to craft frightening situations that scare the bejesus out of people and then show them that everything is okay. Their favourite prank is to chase people down darkened streets as a shadowy monster only to reveal themselves to be an adorable, innocent Pidgey. The relief people feel when they realise they aren’t going to die makes for a filling meal.

They are relatively easy Pokémon to train and raise, as long as you don’t mind them trying to scare you every chance they get. Really unlucky trainers end up with Haunter that will make horrible screeching noises for hours so they can eat the trainer’s relief when they stop.
