Description
Inspired by the epic space battle concepts by Ryan Church for Episode 3, I created this in a few hours using a Cintiq 12WX tablet. Hopefully will be the first of many as I improve my technique.Related content

Nothing like a good old fashioned broadside to get the message across.

Captain: "Power to main batteries; divert shields to starboard side! Concentrate firepower on their heavy guns and engines!"
Ensign: "Sir! Their strike craft are breaking through our fighter screen! ...Dammit, we just lost Indigo Squadron!!"
Captain: "FRAK! Volley-fire CIWIS at will; time on target! I want a CLOUD of lasers around this ship!"

Ensign: "Sir! Admiral Gratus' flagship has jumped in to assist us! We're saved!"
Captain: "Damnit! That son of a whore is not going to upstage me, not this time. Deploy all Praetorian fighter squadrons and prepare the Hades Cannon for firing."
Ensign: "But sir! The Hades Cannon hasn't been fully tested, yet!"
Captain: "DO IT! UNLEASH HELL!"

(Oh, and I didn't mean Gratus' ship was getting blasted; just the enemy one).

*Meanwhile, on the flagship...*
Bridge Officer: "Admiral, I'm...getting a strange reading from the Resolute. Looks like... Jesus Christ! Sir, MASSIVE build-up of energies in Resolute's bow! Thermal, plasmatic, radiation...th-that's the Hades Cannon!!
Admiral Gratus (oddly calm): "What? I though that was still experimental..."
Bridge Officer (wide-eyed): "Energy levels are...insane, sir. But they look stable--no, there's no way--!"
Admiral Gratus (raises eyebrow): "What's so surprising?"
Bridge Officer: (gulps) "They're...they're going to fire the Hades Cannon, sir. At broadside. Point-blank range. Firing in three...two..."
Admiral Gratus (quietly): "What's his game, pulling something like this?"
Bridge Officer: "One! They're firing now...MOTHER OF GOD!!"

"Sir, we're putting everything we can into that damned battleship! It's got heavy physical armor!"
"Goddamn! Defeat is unacceptable, you hear me, Ensign?!"
"I know, sir! We're trying!"
"Captain, our shields are down!"
"Pull up and keep firin--"
Just then, an enemy shot struck the command center, and the entirety of the command staff was annihilated.
The Captain was forty nine.
The Lieutenant was thirty seven. He had two children.
The Ensign would never see his fiance again.
