My first art trade, for ~I-PLUSHIEShe wanted her OC with Fluttershy in the clouds, and I wasn't going to do it without some context, especially since Fluttershy isn't a great flier. I wanted her to look happy, so, she's teaching about Birds, with Mordecai the Bluejay as example. (aw yeeuuuuuhhhh)
The text is there to make it look like a random page in a storybook, ponies lend themselves well to the notion.
It was fun doing something to someone elses specification. Kind of like a client. I was mostly interested in doing this as some kind of professional practice, for the future.
As for future art trades, won't be a while until I consider it again, I have a few ideas I want to do next, some of which are not pony related. I don't want my gallery to become focused on one particular thing. Though there are more ponies I really want to draw, mane 6 for example. But the next thing I do is a DAC group challenge. One I've been putting off for the longest time.

This would actually make a good background, I'm considering changing to it lol. Your right, it does look like a clip from a story book, especially how its circular, like a window into a story or something. Very, wish I could read more lmao.

Eh, don't fret, I didn't do this art trade so that I would recieve something, I did it because it was fun to do something for someone else (and to someone else's specification).
But if you still want to do it, then this is what I wanted:
My OC TwoBits [link] trying to scam a pony with a three card monte, as seen in this youtube clip [link] TwoBits is the one moving the cards around. I don't expect you to draw a whole crowd, just Twobits and another pony. If you can, maybe a hint that they're in Ponyville.
Though I understand if that is too difficult or time consuming.

I found her a bit more challenging than I thought she would be. Her lines were originally the darker yellow from the show, but they looked...overbearing? Something like that. Her shading too, I wanted warm shadows but dark yellow looked sickly and too much red looked wrong. Not a huge effort, but I wasn't expecting it.

Well, there's a simple paper texture overlay (multiply, messed with the levels a bit), but other than that, the brush I used for everything here is from Drew Green [link] It's a bit odd to get used to, but I'm getting the hang of it, it's a great brush. I've been looking for a brush like this for ages, tried doing it myself to little success, then Drew supplies one and it's perfect for the look I wanted.

I really haven't been doing anything. Tried to get any old job, for the money, still haven't got one because I'm lazy and picky. Haven't tried getting an animation job, don't even have a showreel or portfolio. Need better material for both of those.

I love the way you handled the colors, they're vibrant without being overwhelming.
Though, since I don't watch Regular Show, the first place my mind went is that this is a universe where Fluttershy is in love with her (adopted) sister.

I was rather concerned about the colour balance. The oc stood out way more than Fluttershy (how appropriate) thanks to this lineless style, and their respective colours. Without shading it was hard to see her. But I'm happy and relieved by your compliment, thank you!

Yeah, it's hard to put anyone next to Fluttershy, since her design is so delicate compared to most of the background ponies, even.
Oh, that would be a The Royal Tennenbaums reference. The character who has a pet hawk named Mordecai is in the same predicament.

It was the first time I drew Fluttershy, it was a learning experience. If I draw her again in this style, I'll try to contrast her against a darker background. I already had to, the sky was originally lighter.
Now I feel foolish, I watched The Royal Tenenbaums only five or six months ago, Wes Anderson's films are brilliant. Now I get your reference.
Darjeeling Limited is my favourite, though only by the slimmest of margins over Royal Tenenbaums.

Don't! I only just saw Darjeeling Limited this past week, despite loving the heck out of his other films (still have to netflix Rushmore); there are simply too many interesting things to hold them all in mind at once, haha.
I have a mental image of Fluttershy flying against a dusk or dawn sky, from a combination of those having some of her coloration and the idea that she'd get over her fears to check on her animals as they got up/went to bed. And, you know, pre-dawn is nice and quiet, well before anypony with a pranking streak is awake.

Rushmore is good, it's interesting to see Anderson's filmmaking at an earlier stage. Yuo can really see the way his films change over time compared to Rushmore.
