This is really amazing, and a shame people probably overlook it because shipping is serious business. The colors are just amazing. Gives a Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker feel.

Thanks!
And yeah, that's why I think it has fewer thumbs up than other fics on fimfiction, people don't give the idea of RarityxBlueblood shipping a chance. Oh well, their loss, it's a great fic.
And yay, Windwaker-ish!

I'm far to distracted by the amazing style to be bothered by the fact that that isn't the proper pairing. Very well done

I have no complaints against the shipping. It's just cool that the commissioner went so far as to create a story where his life and outlook was changed. Makes Blueblood a better character.
Great work on this though. Very cute.

Yep, clouds. That was sort of intentional, like they were sailing on a sea of clouds.
Thank you very much!

Thank you, I was hoping people could enjoy it as an image, even if they don't like the shipping. Personally I'm not one for most shipping, art or fic, but I don't mind drawing it for commissions.

Wonderful! I love this picturebook sorta style!
I already loved the fan-theory that Blueblood's cutiemark has to do with airships navigation. Oh, sweet and elite, you're such a treasure chest for the fandom.

Oh I loved everything about Sweet and Elite. I'm not sure which is my favourite episode, but it is certainly up there, top 5.
Thanks, I'm aiming for a Mary Blair sort of Picture Book kinda style, though I'd never claim to be that good. I think the style and ponies go together really well, and I wish Hasbro would try it (they style, not me, I mean, though that would be best possible thing) instead of those horrible vectors they keep using!

Most nowadays cartoons rely on the easier ways of animation and 'vector art' is just one of these easier techniques everyone uses now. I'm trying it out myself atm because someone adviced me too. I must say I don't really like it. It feel somehow a bit cheap-ish, but I really must try out all the possibilities.
It would be amazing to have a pony show in this style!
I'd also like to see more animation in the style of this old MLP commercial: [link]

WizardWannabe In reply to PepperSupreme [2011-12-22 19:52:15 +0000 UTC]
Oh! Woops! I forgot to specify, I meant the vectors in the cheap comics that get made, and the activity books, like the one My Hearth Warming pic is based on. Though I'm not sure how much input Hasbro makes on them. But a 'Little Golden Book' style MLP book/comic would be amazing, I reckon.
I totally understand the use of vectors in animation (even though I do prefer non vectored cartoons). Vector based animation feels more like paper cut out/puppet animation to me, which is why this mlp has surprised and impressed me with it's animation, but some day I resolve to getting to grips with it. Though I still need to get better at normal animation first.
I've too wondered what it would be like if the show wasn't made in Flash, just out of curiosity.

I really like the angle and hues of color in this. It caught my eye the moment I saw it, linked to a general MLP thread I subscribe. I quickly checked and saw it was in an EQD drawfriend, too. I'll be checking this story out, as the premise is rather similar to an idea of my own for a certain theoretical sequel.
It looks almost like you colored it with chalk before scanning it, which of course you couldn't have/didn't. It must have been done digitally. The effect is fitting.
I think I'll tag this with a Fav.

Oh, what mlp thread is that?
You'll want to watch *JimVincible for the fic.
Eeyup, all digital, but I try to emulate a messy dry brush, because I like that kind of aestethic. Sometimes I yearn for clean lines and colours, but I usually prefer stuff like this.
And thank you very much! I'm glad you like it!

Not a fan of the pairing myself, but to each his own and I am open when something is either written well or drawn well....and this is very well drawn <3
You made a very lovely little scene that even haters should respect. I love the lighting, the complimentary colors, the perspective. Everything! Very well done here! The only thing I can nit pick at a bit is Rarities hind leg looks a but strange, I know we are seeing it from a more frontal angle, but I think it could use a bit more of a dip where the heel of her foot starts, just to give it a bit more volume and not feel its turning into one huge leg. I think it might have been how you outlined her thigh that makes it a bit awkward.
But again, this is me nitpicking not wanting to give you just the positives and give some constructive thought, but I had to look carefully and it could be just the outline or it could just be me.
Don't mistake me, I LOVE this piece, and without nitpicking the small stuff that no one will see, this is wonderful!

Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it! I'm not one much for shipping either, but client gets what client wants.
Regarding her leg, I think it's mostly me grappling with the perspective, this whole piece had a angle that I had little to no practice with, I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it, because I feel a better artist could have done it better. I agree her legs could be better. In fact, I drew Rarity and Blueblood and the ship and realised that their perspective was wrong and had to alter it. I will have to think more thoroughly when trying something else with perspective, it's a tricky beast. I think I briefly thought about extending her left bak leg backwards, but then didn't. Hmmm.
Thank you for the critique, I really do appreciate it, I'm glad you nitpicked, it makes me a better artist!

XD No problem at all, and yes perspective is tricky, which also adds where I'm not an expert on that matter, so I could have been off. But unless you are looking closely I don't think people will notice if the perspective is off. As I said, honestly, it might have just been the lineart of her thigh that threw me off, I didn't even notice anything severely off with the ship and Blueblood. Then again, as I said before, perspective is a hard area for me so its likely I can't see it as well as other artists. Usually its when something is way off I would notice stuff like perspective until I get better at it myself XD;
I'm a shipper myself, but I don't take things like such as seriously as I use to in my youth (22 year old here lol) but now, there are some I can see, some I cant, but I find anything that is done beautifully is beautiful, my preferred pairing or not. Visual art and writing shouldn't be judge solely because you don't like a couple, that can be very shallow at times. I believe that well done art of any kind can make even an unlikely couple believable and endearing in fact <3! But in the end, its to each his own, and everyone deserves to be happy and fighting over such simple things is a waste of time. They cause interesting debates, and I love hearing different points of view, but to get offended and angered over a disagreement over a pairing is a bit immature. I have been there, as I said, but we grow 8D.
I LOVE getting critiques, and its sad how little many artists get now adays with people being so sensitive about it. I welcome you to critique my work anytime! I love getting feedback from people and seeing my work through a fresh pair of eyes. People need to learn that you can take or leave critique, just be thankful and willing to hear others views. If we tried to please everyone, no one would be pleased, but at least give people an ear and thank them for their time. I wish I got more critiques on my piece, it shows people are interested enough to spare me some of their time.
Anyway I'm rambling XD I cant wait to see more of your art! And feel free to give me your views on mine if you wish. I don't need a watch, not what I'm seeking, but its not everyday you meet people willing to receive and possibly give more constructive comments. Sad fact really...

I think her thighs are a bit off, I didn't plan their perspectives correctly, and planning is way more important than a lotta people think. "Measure twice, cut once" can't remember where I read that, but it's something I should keep in mind next time.
Though, you're the only person who seems to have noticed, so I think you have a good eye.
Agreed, I don't go in much for shipping and anything i'm not fond of I ignore, no need for histrionics, but first and foremost, good art stands above. Which is what I hope to achieve with my own art. I had watchers before I started doing pony art and got a bunch of new watchers, so I hope to appease all by making good appreciable art.
Crit indeed is a wonderful thing, I don't DA is the best place for it, but I'll take what I can get. I think most just don't have the time for it, or feel like they can't offer good critique, I'm guilty for both, I'm afraid. Though that is changing lately. I'd be happy to peruse your gallery, and offer anything I can, though not tonight, it being Christmas eve and all. I shall put your page on my bookmarks for later.
Thanks for the comments, they all mean a lot to me, but comments like yours are doubly great.
