I wish I had found out about this sooner, but oh well. This is the best I could do in the time I had.Anyway, it's Applejack Appreciation Day over on EQD so I had to do something for best pony, and I wanted to join in!
At the end of a long hard warm day, time to relax in the kiddy pool. I would have painted a cornetto in, but I only just thought of it right now...
Still trying to figure out how to paint faster. Although, a deadline is quite the motivation.
I had another idea I wanted to do, but I didn't think I could get it done on time. And another idea, but it included Apple Bloom, and I wanted to focus on AJ, it's her day after all.

England isn't to boring I think, it at least has some hills, unlike Holland which is just one flat marshy surface.

I've only been to Amsterdam, but I liked how much water it had everywhere; all those canals.
Though I'll admit, I do like the hills and landscapes of my native home too.
But by boring I was thinking of job wise. I'd love to work in tv animation, but it borders on non-existant here. Least, as far as I can find. I want to emigrate to the US or Canada, because it's where most of our cartoons come from anyway.

Been so busy I never got to reply to one of my favorites. I would so love to do something like that again. Perhaps next year I'll buy my own little personally pool to relax in as I drink my self merrily asleep with my OJ- I mean apple cider :iconliarjack:

Yeah, one of the reasons I think she's best pony is her attitude to hard work, and I liked the idea of her deserving some time off!

Oh, right. Yeah, I worried a little about them, but thought that ponies in the show often do things their arms shouldn't. But mostly I just wanted the pose. Perhaps I could have positioned them better. I was rushing a bit though.

Eh, I just write it off as cartoonyness. Except with hindlegs, I can't stand it when the show does them wrong, for example, when filly Twilight jumps in the air after passing her entrance exam with Spike's egg.

I read your comment about the weather being British, not normal, warm : D I have to disagree, the last days were most delightful, at least here in North West, which is even weirder ^^' And I just recently came to terms with living here, now enjoying every day, lovely country. :3 As for the painting. It's very good, you captured the shadows well, and the single cloud in the background breaks the monotony, though the highlight at the middle of the sky gives the feeling there is a light source directly behind AJ. It's a nice and simple illustration capturing the feeling of relaxation very well :3 And painting faster will come with more practice. I'm one to talk I can't even paint that good xD But I see an improvement every time I draw something new, so I'm sure you do too

Ahh I'm just comparing the warmth to the one time I went to Spain and got off the plane and realised what it truly felt like to walk into an oven. So whenever I think it's hot in England, I always think it's not that hot in comparison.
Regarding the light source, I wasn't thinking much, but I kinda wish I had done that differently, and shaded in the grass more, because it really does look too 'sun on the horizon'. oh well.
I do see improvement, I just complain a lot.

Oh I know what you mean. I still remember summers in Poland, sometimes the weather was just like you describe being in Spain. You walk out, BAM, right into the oven ^^. Looking at this from such perspective, yes, summers in England are a bit... scarce in heat.
But keeping in mind that this illustration was being made into a simple drawing, so it is good nonetheless. :3
And I'm yet to live to a day in which an artist is satisfied with their drawing skills. It's in the job description - chase after perfection!

Like a disclaimer, saying, warm in Britain isn't particularly warm compared to elsewhere.
Yeah, if I had more notice, I totally would have done this differently. It's fine as it is, but it could be better. I might even try it again, later, although for a different reason than just doing it again.
