I did this drawing\painting for my friends birthday. It took me ages to finish it, because I didn't know what to draw in the background. She just wanted to have those cherry blossoms. I had problems with the composition and I didn't know what objects should I put in the background, but I'm a Japan fan, so I choose a zen garden, fuji-san and pagoda.Related content

Thank you. It's a matter of practice. My first drawings look awful. The point is you have to love it, love drawing and have fun with it and then learn some basic rules

wow - the first time i saw it - it looks like an postcard or photo or like that - but than i read your comment and saw, you draw it by yourself!!!
and i have to say - respect! you are soooo great in coloring!!!! i like the japanes background - i love japan too - and you draw this perfect! the colors match so perfect together !!

Thank you very, very much. I'm really happy, you like it so much. I still have to work on drawing rocks , water and sand (is there a special way to draw sand?). There will be a problem with colouring when my friend comes back for her pencils hahahaha

Straaaaaaaaaaasznie dłuuuuuugo to robiłam, a to ze względu na to, że kompletnie nie miałam pomysłu na tło. Musiałam coś wykombinować i tak długo kombinowałam, że zajęło mi to około 4 tygodni (masa roboty - aż mi się odechciało rysowania). OMG.

How long, exactly, did it take you?

The colouring took me about 2 weeks, but the full art, with sketching, drawing the outlines, some painting and colouring with colour pencils took about 4 weeks. The biggest problem was, I had no idea for the background.
