Description Acrylic on canvas - 50 X 40 cm

Coriolanus" is the best shakespearean text about politics. Here, the General think about treason, furious with the great roman people ingratitude. I used, in fact, my red towel as his robe, and I say this because it is the best thing on this work. The human model was the actor Christophe Lambert.

This is amazing! I love Coriolanus, it's definitely one of my favorite of Shakespeare's plays.

I can't believe that's a towel he's wearing, you've made it look like heavy velvet cape or something. Very regal LOL!

I will echo what previous commenters have said. This is a fabulous painting. Captures Coriolanus' frustration and anger at being thwarted.

I would love to have permission to use as a b&w inset to a chapter on Coriolanus in a Roman biography collection we are reprinting.

With credit, of course.

OK, my friend, my Coriolanus is yours. As you see, I have, here, on Deviantart, 36 paintings about Shakespeare´s masterpieces, all of then as a great rectangle - Hommage to Shakespeare´s - that belongs to the Universitade Federal da Paraíba, here, at João Pessoa City.
I wrote, too, a novel - Hamlet - published as part of a book - História Universal da Angústia - with a national prize - Prêmio Graciliano Ramos.

Oh, Madinina, here is not so far as you think. When I was in Madrid I saw that the same movies of the cinemas of there we had, here, in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil. All the indicates to Oscar we saw here before the prizes. And I see movies of all the world in dvds.

Madinina-ruff In reply to WJSolha [2005-03-15 22:57:05 +0000 UTC]

Ah yeah it's true that he also made some international movies like Highlander.
I was saying so because he's so french, and french actors are not often known in the rest of the world lol

WJSolha In reply to Madinina-ruff [2005-03-16 00:21:16 +0000 UTC]

I saw several movies with Lambert as actor. And Catherine Deneuve, Gérard Depardieu. ( Tous Les Matins du Monde est excellent) But... yes: before was better: Yves Montand, Trintignant, Anouk Aimée, Brigitte Bardot, Juliette Binoche, Jean Marais, etc, etc.

^___^I see that you have a true culture in french actors, bravo! I like Gérard Depardieu a lot. I dont know if you've seen the movie "Manon des sources",(adaptated from a novel by Marcel Pagnol), but its really excellent)! Now let me stop spamming your thread lol

lol, i suppose its a matter of opinion. and yeah we do hear alot about Shakespeare in England i suppose, but i hate the actual english lesson, so that sorta puts me in a bad mood and maybe doesnt let me appreciate the play. but then again, sometimes i have no idea what he's on about, although find some of his dark descriptions rather cool, although i would like to strangle Romeo. and slap Juliet. and throw something at Macbeth.

im rambling so im gonna shut up now >.<

You write like... the old Bill: with a lot of blood, sound and fury! Thank you for your attention. Do you know?: I´ll go to publish, in this year, a novel where Horatius, the Hamlet´s friend, is brazilian ( why not?).

wow this is amazing, i love the texture you've put into it, and the expression, and, tis jsut great! the fact that this is based on Shakespeare almost makes Shakespeare seem like a good thing. but i've jsut had an English lesson going over Romeo and Juliet, so, that kinda counteracts it a wee bit
anyway im loving it ^_^

Oh my dear Claire: Shakespeare is a good,is a wonderful thing! Yes, I know: you, british, I supose, hear this in your schools since you born. But...who am I to say this for you if I do not speak english Thank you for the generous comment. More generous because you dont like Shakespeare and said what you said.
