For those who might think the helmet is weird, I thought it is because some cultural difference from east Asia. I am a Chinese and I can figure out it is a tiger-look helmet at a glance. Ancient Chinese people like to extract some deep elements from animals and plants to show power, spirit and even personalities. In this picture, the helmet actually enriches the Kui's personalities such as powerful, steady and strong. Though, it is only my opinion. Good job!

I would say female judging by the eyelashes, face shape, body shape, and outfit.. For instance, the feet armor things look like they have a heel to them and there is a bow on the waist, which is pretty feminine. The character looks to be wearing a plateskirt thing too. I would be surprised if the character were a male.
