Description Here's the candy coated pipsqueak Vanellope from 'Wreck-It Ralph'! I thought it would be schweet to make her say something. She's saying "Ralphie", in case you were wondering.

If I may critique this, as I'm in 2D animation in college right now...the over all animation is WONDERFUL! And, if I look at the eyes and face, it's VERY smooth! But, the only little issues I see...is that the ponytail looks like it's swimming around, a little. The head doesn't turn that much, when you look at the face, but the ponytail moves a little too much for what it should be, compared to the movement of the head. The ear grows and shrinks a little too much, and the shape of the head changes quite a bit. But, that's all fixed with keeping the volumes the same via onion skinning (seeing each frame while you're animating).

Do you practice key frame animation? Or do you just use straight-ahead animation? I'd love to know! It looks like straight-ahead, but I'd love to know what you do.

Thank you so much for your precious critique! Almost always I draw straight ahead animation whenever I'm bored and decide to mess around. xD So it's pretty sketchy. But it's great to know that I'm doing well for someone who hasn't gotten any lessons on animation, haha xP

Never any lessons!? Wow! Then, I would consider you intermediate, in your skill. You just need to learn the very basics of keeping your animation fluid and proper in terms of volume and placement. Keyframes help a LOT, though some programs don't let you use those, since they're all about straight ahead animation. XP

Oh thank you! And yep, all the things that I know about animation was by reading books and notes or experimenting myself! The programs that I use to draw it digitally are Paper Plastic Animation, and Paint Tool SAI, so I have no clue how the programs truly works and just went with what I know. xD I'd like to do 2D manually but I don't own a light table.

I'm starting art school next year and hopefully, I'll learn the right method about dealing with keyframes and inbetweens!

Well, I would check to see if they DO teach you animation. Some art schools are just Fine Arts, so all painting and the like. But, if it does, I'm sure you'll be learning all the basics of doing traditional animation, since you need those basics to do anything else.

Can you tell me how you made this? Did you make a pencil sketch and then scan it? Which program did you use? It's beautiful.
