Description Okay, sorry for all the motivational posters, but I haven't been getting to draw lately. School is a bitch and when I'm finally free, I'm too lazy. Yeah..... But hey, my motivational posters are funny, right? Right? *get tomatoe thrown at face* BC

Yes, you make Thrasher very sad.

I love Thrasher😘 This is how he would react to Teen Titans Go! or Batman & Robin.

This is one of my favorite scenes from Robotomy! Hahaha! I love this!
I wish CN would of let it stay on for an entire season, or put it on during Adult Swim.

Yeah, same here. I hate that they got rid of it after only ten episodes and replaced it with Problem Solverz. >> I think they've gotten lazy.

I think so too. All these live-action shows on a 'Cartoon' Network. >_>
Ah well, I think they're going through a Nickelodeon phase [remember all the game shows that used to be on Nick?]. They'll get back to the basics eventually when they realize they're driving away their target audiences.

It's just sad that shows like Robotomy had to suffer because of CN's low animation budget and overuse of outsourcing in animation all the time.

Yeah, well Nickolodeon barely has anything good on anymore besides Spongebob (except maybe those new cartoons, but I haven't watched them yet).
Where do you think cartoons in general are heading nowadays? In terms of movies, there are indeed some good animated movies nowadays, but they're nothing like they used to be and most of them come from Pixar and are computer generated instead of hand drawn. I think we may even be running out of movie ideas, too. What else could explain the constant live action versions of old cartoons? Either that, or the companies are just being really cheap.

The reason companies are doing live action versions of cartoons that we had as little kids is because they think they don't have to advertise as much because we already know the general plot and characters. Sony Pictures is doing this again with the SMURFS. They came into my college for recruits and basically that is exactly what they told us: The plot is easy to figure out so you only have to worry about animation, there's not much advertising you have to do because the product is already well known. It's very sad. But that's also why we are going to be having a Ice Age 4, Spiderman 4, Comics turning into movies, a new Puss in Boots movie.... less money spent on advertising and the rendering of the cartoons is easier because it's already been done on a previous movie. So you're exactly right about companies being cheap, but they're not running out of ideas - they're scared to put out something that hasn't been done already in case they don't make profit. Dumb decisions.

I think that cartoons are on a serious downlow right now. Since Computer Animation is such a *young* medium of animation, it's the race to realism. As soon as they figure how to make things natural and smooth like Traditional [Tangled was a great milestone!] then they'll go and return to Traditional Animation. Disney is already starting on doing this. Once Computer Animation can mimic Traditional Animation, there's probably going to be a LOT of experimentation with claymation, computer, traditional, and stop-motion. There are already cartoon shorts that are trying these multi-media approaches and are experimenting with what different mediums have to offer.

I think if they came up with something new, it would make more money and advertising would be worth it. Sadly, the companies don't want to take chances. But don't they realize that we've had enough of sequels and remakes? I mean, really, who on the internet do you know that actually wants to see Smurfs in live action?

So you think we'll go back to hand drawn/Traditional animation eventually? Or are they just going to make Computer animation look like Traditional? Experiments with claymation and stop motion do sound interesting, though. I hope Disney starts making Traditional Animation again. The Princess and The Frog was good.

Ah! Princess and the Frog is my little obsession at the moment. The Traditional Animation was amazing, but that was because it was all done in America - no outsourcing. They also really focused on lighting - which is different for a Traditionally Animated Film, and I loved the "Almost There" song animation. They really put in a lot of attitude and movement into a style that Samurai Jack labelled as graphic and flat. There *is* going to be a Winnie the Pooh animated feature coming soon. It's going to be Traditional and I heard from Disney that they are doing it all in the US so - too bad they can't do something for a broader audience.

I definitely think that Traditional is going to come back. Right now everyone is hyped over this new medium - Computer Animation - but once we've experimented enough with it there will be a lot of people heading back towards Traditional. Traditional is a million times harder, and a lot more expensive [the main reason Robotomy got cancelled] but it also can *feel* a lot better than Computer Animated pieces. We already have composites of Computer Animation in Traditionally Animated films like Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, and even Princess and the Frog [Dr. Facilier's cards]. I really would LOVE to work on projects such as those in the future.

As for the sequels - everyone at my college boycotted Yogi Bear. Ugh! What an insult to animation! We all groaned in the audience when Sony Pictures brought up Smurfs - even the animators presenting were telling us that they didn't really want to do it, but the producers DID. It's all very sad actually.

Ah, that's okay. I don't really watch Cartoon Network anymore either. I only watch it for this show, Robotomy. If it weren't for my online friend, Missy, I would've never heard of it, but it is one heck of a good show. XD It's probably my current obsession at the momment.
