Oh gosh Legolas XD And Tauriel is all cool, completely unaware. (or is she...?)

i...actually don't have hair that long, but it's still humour

Now imagine she got a braid.
How would it be getting hit in face by that?

I used to accidentally hit myself with my braid when I still had long hair, so I can tell: It would be a formidable wheapon.

hehe as a teen I'd have a 'high' ponytail (at back of crown, nearly on top) that would reach past my neck and I'd purposely turn and 'hair-slap' the friend -or sister- that was standing next to me. Of course if it was braided and had a thick band (thin ones were sissies and break) at end
... yes formidable weapon indeed

Had that too as a young teen, but in the end I mostly hit myself.

It took me a bit to figure out the momentum and proper tilt of a head toss needed to hit the person on my side WHEN I wanted to and NOT hit myself as I walk XD but when I did... sneak braid-slap! ... of course I rarely hurt anyone's face  since it hit their shoulder .... because I'm the height of a dwarf!

literally, I'm serious

I'm 4' 11" and been that height  (I really never hit that wonderful 'growth spurt', only 1 inch from age 12growth to adult is not impressive )

I'm quite small, too; 1,57m (think that's 5'2")
I never had that famous 'growth spurt' either and am a total babyface; when I tell people how old I am, their faces get that strange expression.

LOL I know!
I was working at Walmart when I was 26 and was talking about going to San Antonio for a vacation and the overnight manager asked if I was old enough to travel on my own!
It got even funnier when I told him my age, his jaw literally dropped because he thought I was 16! XD

I've heard it before, that we short people tend to look younger but really didn't believe it until as an adult I heard what people thought my age was.

When I was in sixth class, meaning eleven or twelve, some parent at school asked me if I'd started school today! She thought I was a first grade pupil.
My mom told me, when you are thirty and still look like twenty, the same people who mock you now will fall very silent. And she was right.

I was about say OMG... because it wasn't that bad that I was mistaken for a 1st grader ... then I laughed at the last part.
I remember being in  jr high and I did not trust people taller than me unless they were related (well ALL my relations were taller! Even my younger cousins ... but then their dad was 6'6" and they took after him more than their 5 ft 4" mom)  I remember walking home and feeling all tense as I walked beside some High schooler.
I eased up some by time I got to high school but once in a while I'd feel anxious being around tall people.

No wonder I love dwarves (and hobbits) over elves

I hate it when I have to stand in the bus or underground and am surrounded by tall people who could slam their elbows into my nose at any time,
really makes me claustrophobic. But when I see guys so long they have to stand hunched in the bus, I think it's better to be short after all.
And I can still wear children's shoes, those are cheaper.

Depends on the elf - 'evil' elves are cool. But most of the time I rather feel on the dwarves' side, unless they are eating.

Katzztar In reply to wolfanita [2015-09-25 19:22:38 +0000 UTC]

I got DJD in knees so I can't stand and use handicap sitting so standing on the bus isn't a worry. Now having someone walk into me in a crown  and use the Elven insults to Dwarves "I didn't see you down there" ... yes I HAVE heard it.
And yes I do know that claustrophobic feeling that comes when too many tall people are surrounding us, it comes from that we can't see over their heads so we feel even more enclosed then them.
What I hate is shopping and the tallest shelf is usually so high even standing on tiptoes and stretching I can't reach it X_X
It's been too long since I stopped wearing kid shoes, I was about 13 when I started to wear size 7 ... compared to my mom who was 5'3" and wore a size 5, she could find some kids shoes that fit.... findind nice ones that were not "kiddy" though, that was harder

Well it depends on what set of dwarfs it is on their eating styles. True, Tokien's dwarves in "Thorin's Company" ate like Ron Weasley, (you just know Ron & the twins would throw food around if their mom or McG wouldn't catch them)  but R.A. Salvadore's dwarves such as Bruenor in "Companions of the Hall" didn't have those set of manners. ...instead Bruenor and his fellow dwarves seem to try to see if nearly anything non-sentient is edible. He even ate the leg of a mangy old dog though it gave him a stomach ache.  XD

The perfect illustration to summarize all of their dynamics during the whole trilogy. Brilliant. And desperately exasperating.
