Topaz says
“ I don’t know what Topaz would do if she didn’t have Topaz…"

"I’ve always wanted to tell me how I am helping be through this BUT
THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE BETWEEN US!!”

Inspired to draw this because of the episode Stuck Together.

Also I would like to point out that I don’t think Aquamarine is necessarily the one “standing between them”, I drew her in the middle because she is more higher up than Topaz is which gives her power over them to a certain degree.

So what it really means by “Someone is always between us.” is more so directed to the gems who are higher up than them and having power on if they are together, fused or even go on the same missions I am sure.
That is why I drew the diamond authority behind them but with Yellow Diamond’s eyes staring down, always watching.
I feel that if either of the Diamonds found out their subjects were gaining emotions for another gem, they would have them separated, shattered or something far worse.

I also feel that if Blue Diamond and Yellow Diamond agreed, they could order Aquamarine to shatter one Topaz in front of the other and we all know that if a gem refuses a Diamond’s order than they better run because the Diamonds do not take kindly to disobedience.
