Thanks for the link. I've downloaded it and I'll try it out. However, the image with the folded wings was done in Photoshop, so it's not a flame. Will the Apophymator still work or do I have to create the folded wings image in Apophysis before I can use it as a frame in the animation? I'd love to make this a smooth video.
Glad you like the GIF.

Oh ok, I did not know the folded wing frame was shopped. I suppose it may be possible to actually fold it in apophysis using the post rotate (X and Y) variations and post adjust (PX) but apophymator will not work on the shopped image, no.

Thanks! I wish animateds could be bigger. You really can't get the impact of the butterfly this small. But it looked kinda cute anyway.

I have rendered this at a larger size as an animated. But I don't think I can upload it to dA because of the size. Here is my Photobucket account link for the larger version of this.
[link]
I never delete a flame. I have one major flame pack I work out of and several of specialty flames (magnolias, jellyfish, spiky flames), but most live in my Wall of Design flame pack. So I usually can find flames there if I need to re-render. Then there's always the render3D flame file which has saved me more than once.
I hope you like the larger version.

Here is what dA says about animated GIFs:
"Please be advised that static or animated .GIF files over 150 px X 150 px will only be fully viewable by clicking on the 'Download' link to the left of the deviation."
So, I could upload the full size for download, but the preview image would only be this small one anyway. You'd have to download it to see the large one. I figured putting the Photobucket link in would serve that purpose.
Thanks, Debi! I'm so glad you liked it.

A "flame" is the name of Apophysis (software) parameters, which make the images. You don't use regular graphic editing software to generate "fractals", which the butterfly is. I used Apophysis to make and render the basic butterfly. I used Photoshop to distort the wings separately from the "body" and I used ImageReady to put the frames together to make the animation.

Thank you for enlightening me. I find what you have said fascinating! You have a great gift of not only wonderful artisitc attributes but of highly skillfull minipulation.
I only came to grips with fractals a few months ago, so there is still much I need to learn, and I am glad you have shared it with me.
These other programs sound really good. I will have to try some pof them out one day.

See response to question above. A flame is an Apophysis parameter file.
