Description
First bowie I made reappropriating an old hickory 10" butcher blade broke, the tang proved not soft enough so cracked during use (0.095" thick 1095 stock) and this is beefed up a lot more with a heat treat I controlled and a rustic finish that appeals to my taste in knives and axes. Sheath is covered in bind runes and various other incantations based on my nordic roots. In my culture all the great hero's of the sagas had a good family knife with mystical abilities or prestige going back many many generations, this is my addition.

Specs:

Usable blade length = 7"
Overall length = 12.5"
Blade material = 0.25" 5160 leaf spring with distal taper going to fine shape point.
Handle material = Ages elk antlers from Arkansas treated with potassium permanganate and sealed with epoxy (not stabilized).
Pins = Brass.
Construction method = Hammer forged full tang.
Makers mark = Laser engraved very shallow to appear as hammer strike pitting.
