Actually a bit of good news is that it looks like the Algonquin Wolf(formerly thought to be a subspecies of gray wolf), appears to be more closely related to red wolves, and may be a more genetically pure population of them.
Defenders of Wildlife has a separate support program for red wolves.

My Ther-self is a false Red Wolf. Just call myself a 'Yote, because the look like red-ticked 'Yotes with their larger ears and such.

Well, my biggest one is to always eyeball it, even if you have a pattern. The shape that you get after it's sewn is different than the drawn one from the original pattern.
