Description Second to last of my original works, before I start posting all of the requests.

A black foxman. I just wanted to illustrate the difference between wolf and fox in my style, mostly.

You can certainly see the difference between this and the wolves. Before seeing the title, I figured this was just a less buff wolf, but looking at the subtleties it does make sense to be more of a fox.

With foxes, you do need to watch that the muzzles stay smaller and more triangular than those of wolves, and also that the ears are fairly large in proportion to the head. (This illustrates both fairly well: [link] )

The eye does look rather foxish. Good stuff. I would have liked to catch up on all your pieces with comments, but with the backlog of deviations since I've been away, I'll just settle for a few. Neat new work you're putting out, though. You can see the progression in fine detail skills.

Cheers,
-Lady Serpent

Yeah, the problem for this particular one was making it look menacing enough, so I worked with the smaller elements of it. The ears are bigger, and the head is more wedge-shaped than my wolves, who do have long faces, but they tend to be blunt, and the ears are smaller.

Thank you for your comment though.

I really like the ink and wash style you're doing for your newer work, I see this is the fox man you were talking about. I like the foxes your draw, their eyes and posture makes them different from your wolves. They seem more sinister.

Just this one really. I wanted to see if I could make a sinister fox.

I generally try not to make wolves too sinister because of their bad reputation that already exists.

Awesome~! I can definitely see the difference in anatomy between this one and the drawing of Cain. :3

Thank you. I like the smaller hands and feet myself. The coloration differences are also pretty cool, but I couldn't capture the silvery element without making him look like a "silver" fox.

Beautiful piece, I love the color and the vivid details. My only suggestion would be to add some lighter fur area's just to bring up out the muscle tones, I don't think it needs anything else

It's a hard balance between keeping the black fox black, and turning him silver. I'm sure I'll try again later, since this isn't my favorite of my newer works.

I can relate I find with werewolves when you make them black you ether have to use grey to highlight or a burnt out blue.

Problem is too much grey can make them old and blue if its the wrong tone makes them look like they've just got highlights...damn frustrating.

With me, it's more that with the black fox, the general coat color is mixed silver and black. Too much black makes them hard to see(And it makes them a more true black than they are). Too much silver, and it's not a black fox anymore.

I'm usually fine with wolves, because I can deal with them looking old. I like the white markings the older ones get.
