Description Working on contrast and movement. I'm not sure I captured the movement, but hopefully the contrast is an improvement upon my past work!

Run, little guys, run! O:

Oh gosh, these are fantastic! What an unusual concept! I love how jittery they all look, and your digital work, I seriously thought this was a traditional painting when I first saw it 8x;;

I also happen to have a nose fetish, and those are some lovely noses right there.

Thank you! 8D I struggle with digital stuff, so that's encouraging.

(Ohyes, noses. They are beautiful. )

Myyyyyyyyyyyyyyy goodness.

Now this is something else. For you and in general. Damn.

I am loving the rich contrast you put in here; the lighting is stark, vivid, and pretty much just pummels me in the face screaming, "FORM! TEXTURE! SETTING!"

The expressions on these adorable goat-men-creatures add a whole 'nother element as well. I'm actually trying to figure out if it's three separate beings or one guy sequentially looking to the side, down, then up. It's so surreal it could be both. I love ambiguity

This piece has such a sense of place and mood, I could honestly see this as a cover or some sort of promotional art. In fact, I really want to know what the hell is going on...yet it's also just as fun to fill in the blanks myself.

Great job. Simply fabulous. Only critique is...you know, I'm coming up short. This just rocks. can I adopt one

You love ambiguity?! WE SHOULD GET MARRIED!

This comment made my morning because you previously pointed out my lack o' contrast and form.

These guys are great! I just love their expressions. They're definitely prey animals of some sort - will we ever know what they are running from?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Wolfyu In reply to Pannya [2009-06-01 21:17:48 +0000 UTC]

I certainly don't. D8 In all seriousness, though, I think they're supposed to be a personification of the more animalistic fears in all of us; definitely a 'rey' sort of thing, being pursued. I wonder if they know what they're running from?

The entire scene makes me think of the movie Hannibal, in the scene where they talk about the lambs screaming. For some reason, even though these aren't lambs?, I imagine that was the look on their faces. Dunno why o_o

I'm so out of the loop with movies. I haven't seen Dark Knight, any of the Spiderman movies, never watched LOTR before they hit DVD, and I haven't seen many of the old classics, either (Casablanca, etc). 8C Haha...

Magicdragon In reply to Wolfyu [2009-06-03 00:24:03 +0000 UTC]

Movies not your thing? I've seen clips from classics, but haven't seen many, although thanks to taking a film history class, I'm like I know that movie! That scene is so Godfather, etc xD And I discovered my love for some of the first movies ever. I've not seen Casablanca either, so you're good.

Wolfyu In reply to Magicdragon [2009-06-07 05:00:18 +0000 UTC]

I never feel like paying ten bucks to see newer ones, and I haven't the attention span to sit around and watch older ones. lose-lose situation.

Film history sounds SO fun, though! Actually, history-of-anything classes are generally more fun than all around history classes.

Magicdragon In reply to Wolfyu [2009-06-08 03:59:03 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha, true that.

It was a fun class, really opened my eyes to understanding where movies today got that idea from. There's so much repetition in movies it's unreal!

Uncanny valley much? c8
Oh wow, I love this. Especially the detail and strokes put into the fleece. <3 The greens in the color scheme look nice as well.

And I have to admit, they almost look stationary or as if they're just now about to flee...opposed to moving.

You ought to be proud though, this looks excellent.

Wolfyu In reply to Redracat [2009-05-27 04:42:39 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the input! Making things on paper 'move' is so difficult...

I just read a bit on the uncanny valley hypothesis. Interesting stuff! The wikipedia article on it mentions that the effect can be apparent in some 3D animation (it mentioned Beowolf and The Polar Express). So that's why those movies weirded me out so much...
